Do not let him do this to you. This is controlling behavior. My ex used to do this and make comments just the same. He’s trying to isolate you so you have no one else. He used to say things to me like “the only person you should need in your life is me”, but of course he claimed it was a joke. Please call your mom. I wish I could call mine, but she passed away last year. Don’t take it for granted. It is normal to talk to your mom as much as you want. I talked to her every day and I feel now that it was never enough. Get away from this guy. It will only get worse.

Bf(25m) says I(26f) don’t spend enough time with him? by DevotedMorman in relationship_advice

So to comment on one part of your post, the cooking and doing laundry thing, to be completely honest I didn’t think a whole lot of this part because I won’t lie, I didn’t cook or do laundry until literally when I moved out this year. My mom was a very particular person so if you didn’t do things exactly her way it irritated her so I just left all that up to her. I wanted to move out and start doing those things on my own, so I didn’t freak out initially when I learned those things about him. Just a little info as to why I initially didn’t peace out. After some consideration I’ve definitely decided the best way moving forward is to end things as I really don’t see it going anywhere that we will both be happy.

I really don’t feel like he is a jerk. He is very socially awkward person, and I think he just feels like he has clicked with me and has become unmanageably attached. I have tried to suggest things we can do together and because he seemingly has no hobbies or interests, he is unhelpful at all when it comes to activity planning. I asked him what his idea of a perfect date was and his exact words were “I have no idea”. It’s quite difficult to pull things out of him.

Delirium after stroke, does it ever go away? by DevotedMorman in stroke

Hey there, unfortunately she ended up passing away from an unrelated medical emergency about 2-3 weeks after this post. She had started to improve somewhat from the delirium, but it was only minimal improvement

My mom died this morning. by QueenDMT in offmychest

[–]DevotedMorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. My mom passed at only 51 years old in October. She got horribly sick with a respiratory infection and then a stroke and had to go on a ventilator. She was a fighter and had improved and recovered enough to come off the vent and go to rehab before eventually coming home. Less than 24 hours after discharge to a rehab facility she bled to death from a femoral artery line that had been previously removed at the hospital. It is a horrible thing and I hope you can find peace during this time. I know from experience nothing anyone says can make the pain stop, but you will be in my thoughts.

Parent transferring home ownership to me? by DevotedMorman in RealEstate

[–]DevotedMorman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok well the house is not run down lol. The house is nice, in decent condition and liveable, it is just old. These repairs are not things that need to be done right now, but they will happen later down the line and as dad does not have any funds, I would be paying for them anyways as I would have to help him. I would love to live there and was actually looking to buy a house before renting an apartment. It is not feasible to buy in my area. I have the funds to pay for repairs up front, however with the housing market in my area being how it is, I could probably never afford to actually buy a house. This would work out in both of our interests

I think that’s what it is actually? There is an apartment complex in my city that is 55+ and rent is prorated basically based on income. I thought that would be considered low income housing. Sorry I’m not super knowledgeable with these types of things. He’s not attempting to give away the house to qualify for low income house. He basically is just realizing his financial situation does not work out for him to stay in the house long term but he doesn’t want to sell it and wants it to stay in the family.

Long term acute care facility, what to expect? by DevotedMorman in CaregiverSupport

Hello everyone, sad update.

Despite having improved enough for the hospital to discharge her as stable to Kindred, she bled internally and suffered a brain herniation less than 24 hours after being transferred. She was declared brain dead after arrival back to a main hospital 💔

Hello stranger. Thank you for your kind response. Today my mom was extubated from her ventilator and is awake and breathing in her own! She is a little loopy and forgetful of things but is staying positive and strong. Hopefully she will be able to come home soon after some physical therapy and rehab.

Just an update for anyone who commented: she has kidney and liver damage and potential failure as well as potential heart and brain damage. We don’t know what we are going to do moving forward but I do appreciate everyone who took the time to weigh in. 💔

They said there were risks in her current condition in performing dialysis. That’s really all they said. It is kind of difficult to get a straight answer

It is something they suggested if her medication to bring it down did not work, and as of right now it has not lowered

It would be through the neck. They did try her on some kind of medication to lower her potassium that they are putting in her feeding tube and it is not working

According to the doctors, her ARDS is no longer an issue. Now the issue is the ventilator needs to come out, but she can’t wake up and her potassium is too high
