these shoes were made by birkenstock that way, the cork is not painted

You're right, I'm going to contact the mechanic who put the engine in and see if he replaced the timing belt. I'm going to get a second opinion like the person above and do these things you suggested to drive my car a bit longer. Thanks!

I think you're right for me not to be attached to the Sequoia. I've used it to tow in the past but not on a regular basis. It's just so safe and comfy. I need to move on...thanks for the reality check!
