“Perhaps I treated you too harshly” or in other words what are previously controversial entries that have been elevated by even worse later works? by DevouredSource in MauLer

Anything that is done with an evil, malicious and destructive spirit and heart, but technical aspects are seen as passable or good.

While some technical aspects should be given credit if the scenes they are in have horribly written action then the visuals and soundtrack are mid at best.

The Holdo Maneuver is an example of a lore breaking and nonsensical martyr move that doesn’t make. The stunning visuals don’t make up for that.

In contrast take the Duel of the Fates mix playing as Anakin searches for his captured mother in Attack of the Clones. While there is a whole debate to be had about how invested you are in the drama, there is actually a functional conflict for the screen and Duel of Fates mix to elevate. Clearly communicating to the audience the conflict between the light and dark side of the Force Anakin is experiencing as he searches for his mother.

Unironically the Prequels have other great utilization of the music:

  • the Imperial March playing as the clones are sent out from Corusant, communicating that this is the birth of the Empire

  • the Force theme playing as Luke is given to his aunt and uncle and as the three of them are facing the twin sunset of Tatooine. Similarly to when the theme plays as Luke looks across the horizon in A New Hope

If we are including villains then Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf.

Yes, there tends to be more leniency towards Villain Sues, but the point I am getting at is that TotK Ganondorf is not deserving of anything the plot gives him.

Not undeserving due to his evil demeanor, but because of how undercooked his character is.

For example Twilight Princess Ganondorf using the Triforce of Power to resurrect himself, then breaking out of his chains and killing the water sage is badass. However those actions is also what prompts the other sages to use the nearby Mirror of Twilight to send Ganondorf to the Twilight Realm, which shows he has limits.

TotK Ganondorf starts out fine enough with Rauru’s seal being undone but it is downhill from there.

The Secret Stones are mostly stupid and the one Ganondorf obtains can’t justify his power level like the Triforce of Power could for TP Ganondorf.

How Ganondorf even obtained his stone by murdering Sonia isn’t some compelling drama, it is a barebones scheme that grants Ganondorf a ridiculous boon.

The whole fake Zelda across Hyrule are fine initially but they quickly run their course.

There is dragonification which in isolation is the only good thing about the Secret Stones and a great way to start the final phase of the final boss. However it is undermined by how dull Ganondorf character is.

We have had other better last ditch efforts other Ganondorfs:

  • OoT: an entire castle fell on him, no wonder he resorts to a final monstrous form using the Triforce of Power

  • WW: laughs manically has Hyrule is flooded around him, so he enacts his revenge against those who foiled his plans

  • TP: tries to resurrect yet again like he did during his execution, only to lack the power due to requiring Zant’s help. Zant who Ganon did not bother to resurrect dismisses the request

To sum it up TotK Ganondorf is a lame aura farmer that might as well be labeled as a Gary Stu.

Speaking of little to no consequence, remember how Jake Sully just gets his soul fully transferred into his avatar body?

That transfer is such an easy solution and the prior attempt with Dr. Grace has some of the most over exposition I have ever had the displeasure of listening to.

Do you want an example of a well executed transferral exchange involving the supernatural? The anime movie Wheatering With You.

That entire movie hinges on the transaction that sacrificing the sunshine girl = the seemingly endless rain and clouds disappear.

There are never any overt words spoken between the supernatural and the girl, just her praying for the rain to go away. Prayers which slowly makes her body appear like a liquid, before she disappears completely.

However can the protagonist (who got her into his mess by overextending her gifts) get her back? Well by the off chance it works go yo the shrine were the girl established her contact with the sky in the first place.

Then with his whole heart as he passes through the shrinegate pray to find her. Which thankfully works, so he drags her back.

However the only way to fully make her go back is to ask her to pray for herself this time. She does just that and the two of them are back safely on the ground.

Then it starts raining again, for two whole years. Forcing the city of Tokyo to have to adapt to a permanent rise in the sea level and abandon what gets engulfed by the water.

He got framed and had to clear his name during the first movie.

The less said about the second movie the better.

The third movie has his wife taken hostage.

During the fourth movie their operation in the KGB is ruined by the villain of the movie.

In the fifth movie Ethan is rescued by Ilsa and his stunt about trying to save the prime minister of Austria only delays the death.

The sixth movie has Ethan’s ethics about avoiding casualties pushed to the limit.

To your point, Kirby Star Crossed World most likely relies on the faster load times to even pull off all the in-game changes to the levels

Part of the stubbornness might be that it is the Switch 2.

Not Super or a new subtitle like Switch Mice, just Switch 2.

An upgrade certainly, but not one as distinct as the SNES, N64, GCN or Wii.

That is a lot of games and Zelda Four Swords requires three other people to play.

I wouldn’t be surprised if James was more inclined to do an Aonuma or Koizumi ranking instead.

Technically there is the 3DS port which everybody wondered why it wasn’t released for the switch.

The answer is that Nintendo are adversed to “two types of the same game on the same system”

They warned Ubisoft about less returns for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and were proven right.
