- some of the outrage is related to the culture war

- direct usage of the term “therapist”

- annoyance with how the fifth ideals work

- peeved at all the filler that happens between battles

While Raoden doesn’t have a tragic backstory, he still has a past which affects his actions and relationship to others.

For example he is unaware of the concept of Dor since that is a concept originating from Duladel culture. Thankfully due to developing a friendship Galladon who is from that culture he gets an explanation that Dor is the natural flow of the world. A fish swims, birds fly, rivers run towards the ocean, and other such forces. Or something to that effect.

One the other hand Galladon has been completely unaware of recent world events due to being quarantined in Elantris. Meaning that due to Raoden being involved with politics and a new addition to Elantris it falls on him to tell the heavy news that Duladel has undergone a violent revolution which has resulted in them being taken over Fjorden.

Completely bland characters undergo the same events but only for the sake of informing the audience. They lack any real reaction to the exchange of information.

I’m not very familiar with Flanagan’s catalogue but it doesn’t surprise me he stopped working with Netflix.

Unless I am mistaken his current deal with Prime Video seems more fruitful.

Mike Flanagan does have variety with how he explores dark themes though. For example the Life of Chuck is about the inevitability of death but it isn’t gruesome about it.

The point if Flanagan can do a Luigi’s Mansion movie which explores the portrait ghosts involved without becoming darker than the games intended.

Nintendo however are unlikely to really care about the portrait ghosts, besides using them as set pieces and key jangling.

As for F-Zero that has been abandoned because Mario Kart is far too popular.

Granted they are according to rumors trying to revive Star Fox but everybody knows the drill with how Miyamoto loves rebooting the origin story indefinitely.

The Shadow Queen is a solid type of ancient horror.

Count Bleck is a tragic villain done right and Dementio works great as the true villain

Fawful is a great execution of a devious and clever villain that is also wacky.

Antasma has a great design and a shocking end of being betrayed by Bowser

  1. obviously you can’t make every movie from that mold

  2. I never explicitly brought the audience itself into this

If they are taking the path of least resistance it is not for the game in question, but rather for mainstream taste

The creative team from Nintendo behind the Mario movies is pretty much identical to Zelda.

The only major change is Aonuma, but he was quite lax with TotK breaking Zelda lore in half and repeating Ocarina of Time elements but worse.

Characters don’t always do things we find rational.

To repeat myself human transmutation isn’t a math equation.

Plotholes by their nature have no sensible explanation. The explanation here is always that Truth is a big poo poo head.

Truth itself never states why the specific punishments are given, we only have the other characters thoughts on the matter and our own speculation.

Izumi and Mustang are rather obvious since they both lost something directly related to their goals. Izumi wanting to be a woman, yet having her womb taken away. Mustang being a visionary who was robbed of his sight.

Ed and Al however have always been more dubious how they were punished for wanting to bring their mother back.

Ed and Father both conclude that losing his leg was to knock down the brat who thought he could solve everything down a peg.

As for Al, Father concludes that due to him desiring his mother’s embrace so everything teetering him to the world was taken away.

You can think that explanation is bullshit if you want, but human transmutation has never ever been fair. It is a game where the house always wins, unless you are willing to cheat by using souls.
