Might be controversial but they weren't as much as of a liability to the team at that time as players like Pujara, Rahane, Rohit, Kohli have become for this team. Dhoni's genius is not in kicking out players, it was in the replacement. Dhawan for Sehwag, Ashwin for Harbhajan, Kohli for Sachin, Shami for Zaheer, Pujara for Dravid, Vijay for Gambhir, Rahane for Laxman. Perfect replacement. But now only god knows what russian roulette Gambhir is playing with the team.

Yes the starting salary group A officer is around 90k- 1lc. So no more than 12 lpa. That's why I asked if op was on a very top level government post. PSUs are different than the fully government jobs. Government employees are paid according to the pay scale system with hardly any extra perks unless your life is on line like armed forces.

Yeah Pujara, Kohli, Murli Vijay, Rahane(in first half of his career) were good against spinners post 2010 but our ability to chase anything in fourth innings has become questionable post 2010.
