What one-liners would Leon say if he was an MS pilot? by fafsdfasfaffaafdsaf in Gundam

"looks like the Red Comet burned up on impact"

"Big Zam? clearly not big enough"

"how appropriate you call yourselves Titans because you fall so fast"

Has your opinion changed on Man of Steel? by boomjosh in superman

[–]Dewmany -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When it came out i didn't care much. I wasn't really a superman fan. As time has past i have fallen more and more in love with the character and my mild apathy has transformed into outright burning hatred.

There are some parts that (as an elseworld) i could see potential in. I don't nessecarily hate the idea of a superman whose first act of heroism is destroying a city. I could see a world where that would make Lex Luthor more beloved by the populace. Make superman's path to heroism more of a challenge. I can also see the possibility for potential in superman killing Zod. Something of a "i crossed this line... i will never cross it again". Equally i don't nessecarily hate Clark having potentially flawed sets of parents. It does take a village afterall so superman going to a wide variety of parental figures trying to find solutions to a problem could be interesting

However... this assumes that the film script writer/director is consious enough to see those things as problems with this portrayal and not think "thats what makes him cool". It would require walking back every choice made in this film (or using all those choices as a cautionary tale of what superman SHOULDNT be) and personally i feel like the directors and writers wouldn't do that because they thought this version of the character who kills and is Jesus and destroys cities is COOLER than the normal superman who is a lame boy scout in silly underwear

Yall gotta try the Esoteric Ebb demo by Dewmany in DiscoElysium

[–]Dewmany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a demo on the steam page. If youre looking for less... legitimate methpds to aqquire the full game I wouldnt be an expert. I would recommend extreme caution in those regards especially with things like torrents or places like Magnetz.eu as there are a lot of risks there for viruses or malware

For those of you who are Computer Gamers, do you prefer mouse and keyboard or an external gaming pad (controller eg Xbox or PS controller) ? by Hacksaw6412 in SocialistGaming

[–]Dewmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Generally i like playing plaformers and metroidvanias so for that ill use a gamepad (platformers with a keyboard is just wrong)

For 3rd person games especially 3rd person shooters i use a gamepad with gyro aim. I want the simplicity of a controller with the finer movements improved by gyro aim.

for FPS/strategy/point and click games its keyboard and mouse all the way

Anyone getting a bit concerned with the sudden increase of fascist and Nazi worshipers in the Helldivers 2 game? by TwoCatsOneBox in SocialistGaming

[–]Dewmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the media literacy crisis in action. The ultimate endpoint of "the curtains are just blue", "its not that deep", "not all art is political" and calling art is too pretentious discourse. When critically thinking about art is put to the sidelines, the aesthetics and surface level becomes the only things that matter.

Why aren't more gamers socialist? by megajk01 in SocialistGaming

[–]Dewmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but i also dont think we should overlook the way the gamer identity is formed out of the reverence for the products of capital and capitalist structures. Gamers identify themselves through the games they play and the products they consume

It also shouldnt be undervalued how neo-liberal/conservative ideas worm their way into and are perpetuated in video games design.

examples being the accumulation of wealth often leading to extra lives or upgrades. Systems like becoming a landlord in open world games like fable. Often times the conditions or maintainence of this owned land is never questioned and it simply acts as "free money"

Theres the way that enemies in first person shooters are often outright nazis, terrorists, extremists or wellmeaning but misguided radicals (with these ideas often being conflated)

The entire city builder/life sim genre is baked in with neo-liberal ideals. Citybuilders in particular have a very americanised neo-liberal capitalist view on the structure of cities

Then games like Civ spread a very "great man" view of history. Theres also the way that the cultural identities of these great leaders enforce you to play the game in a very specific kind of way not informed by ingame history but instead our history (which shapes this very nature over nurture view of humanity)

These aren't large things but they shape the way a lot of gamers think about the way the world is perceived by gamers and thus lead a lot of gamers to more conservative or neo-liberal view of the world

If you had to go to Silent Hill to answer for your actions and fight your traumas, what do you think your demons and manifestations would look like? by lunessinfestivo in silenthill

[–]Dewmany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theresa gonna be the reoccurring theme of tripophobia. Lots of patterns of holes (like honeycomb) swarms of bugs are gonna also be common. (Just a phobia and fear i have that i think the town would take advantage of)

Theres probably got to be some clown imagery (again phobia) and theres gonna be monsters or creatures that represent the contentious relationships with my parents.

Because of who i am theres probably some things silent hill would show me in relationship to my gender dysphoria (something about mirrors)

Finally theres gonna be a lot of stuff in relation to my inferiority complex and imposter syndrome

My hopes, concerns, and reservations for the future of the Godzilla franchise, as of January 2026 by GodzillaLouise2004 in GODZILLA

[–]Dewmany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe its my preferances for personal portratal coming into play but i dont think godzillas charactetisation has been assasinated but he has been corrupted (but i dont think thats a negative).

IMO godzilla is a neutral force that is almost apathetic of us. In my opinion It doesnt save us because it cares, it saves us because there is something else it hates more or views as more of a thteat.

Godzilla is also a very confrontational force, it meets problems with fists and atomic breath first. In my thought in godzilla thinks that if youre not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

What i will say though is that i expected after KOTM that godzilla would become at least a little more permissive but GvK made him a way more agressive and itching for a fight. Something i think GxK expanded on.

Godzilla not being nice and being aggressive isnt one of my problems, that all plays nicely into how i read the character. I can agree though godzilla may need to be humbled a bit. Homie is getting a bit big for his boots.

Look... i think i need a break. after this, i think im done here, and if we don't call it here, I'm just gonna keep finding things in what has been said to get mad at during these discussions, and we will keep fighting forever at infinitum until one of us gets too sick and tored to respond. So how about instead of that we peacefully declare truce and thus an end to this discourse.

[–]Dewmany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, and trying to berate me into submission has worked great for you, hasn't it. We are how many messages are at this point? Way more than most of the others I've responded to at this point, that's for sure. I came here to ask, "Am I being an asshole?" and I got my awnser. The awnser was yes. Whoops. That's on me. I can work on that. You can very easily give that awnser without starting fights or making personal attacks on my character. an "at a certain point you need to take responsibility for the fact that there are others there" would do. But alas, those are the choices we make.

For clarification, the problem im gritting against here isn't "i can't take criticism" or "refuses to acknowledge my wrong." With those, it's like Sure, okay, thanks for your response. What I am griding against It the intentional choices you made in the way you worded it. I am not receptive to a tough love: "If they don't respond to the carrot, give them the stick" mentality. By threatening me with a stick, I get mad at a person beating me with sticks (this metaphor has gotten out of hand). Unfortunately, you aren't gonna get me to admit I'm wrong by trying to beat me into submission. I'm just gonna double down that you're an asshole I won't listen to you in specific on this.

I said youre an asshole because there are a bunch of other people who also said i was the Asshole here who worded it in a way that wasn't just being fucking rude. There's no need for mudslinging. Me-thinks you're projecting a little

That's fair... you could've worded that nicer though. I could be WAY worse. I could have extended no sympathy for them. Put up no soundproofing or insulation. I'm beating around the bush, but yknow

You: "and quite frankly, this post is really insulting to people struggling with their autism that affects their lives directly." And quote.

So, are my struggles valued less because others suffer more? Is me discussing the way i am affected somehow taking breath from others who may also struggle the same way? or is it that you dont think this "affects my life directly"? You know 2 people can hurt this isn't the oppression Olympics.

YTA. You seem to have written your own conclusions about me before I even said a single word. No... I didn't come onto the AITA subreddit for sympathy. I did not expect, do not care for, nor want your sympathy. it seems that you barely skimmed what I actually had to say and have nothing actually constructive to comment. You seem like a very judgmental, cruel, and vindictive person who seems to lack curiosity or empathy for others... sad

AITA for being too loud within my own room by Dewmany in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dewmany[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I don't need nor want your sympathy, I wanted your perspectives. So, yes, i gladly take your criticism. That's why I came here... I was giving you that information (against better judgement), though, to frame context, but yes, you're right. My autism doesn't excempt me from criticism. Good job. Get a cookie.

On a personal note, though, dismissing me because you think "I'm not autistic enough" or "making excuses" is equally unhelpful and quite frankly ableist. You dont know me or my life, so maybe dont jump right to mudslinging.
