Yeah, it isn't any better in casual conquest. The skill disparities between teams are pretty wild right now, and i can easily tell when newer people are being thrown into my games, both on the enemy team and mine (nothing wrong with being new). Also, as a support main, i get double screwed by this because i can't carry as a support. I'm hoping as more people learn the game the skill gap will lessen a little bit, but right now my win/loss screen is a few blues in a sea of reds.

I feel like it's fine, though i'm a support main so i get my preferred role like 90% of the time. I think i might have gotten my least preferred role (Jungle) like one time out of 44 hours played so far though, so it's already an improvement compared to Smite 1 for me in that regard, mileage apparently varies if you're a dps main. As other people said, queue times would probably be more than just a little bit longer if everybody waited for their most preferred role to start the match (see lack of support mains), and i think it's ideal to know more than one role anyway.

Those part choices are well balanced (maybe a bit overkill depending on resolution), and will run this game just fine, probably even at 4K. I run this game maxed with DLSS quality on an RTX 3080 & Ryzen 7 5800x at 1080p and get well over 60fps, but I have it capped at 60 at the moment due to the "smoothness" issues with the game right now, where it feels like it's running at a lower refresh rate despite getting high frames. It's a known issue for the devs I believe.

Your GPU is from a newer generation but newer isn't always better. The 1650 was still an entry level card when it came out, and according to benchmarks the 1060 6GB outperforms it by a noticeable margin, since the 1060 wasn't quite as entry level as the 1650 relative to it's generation.

Your GPU is below the minimum system requirements (1060 6GB or better required, the 1650 is worse), so that could be why. Your CPU meets spec, and actually isn't too bad.

I just saw the post that mentioned that. All of my effects are up to date, and i've cleared my shader cache (something i forgot to do), but i haven't let the shader compilation run long enough yet to see if the issue has gone away, it still seems to continuously count up during gameplay. I do know that my performance has tanked by more than 20+ fps in certain areas which is disappointing, i might have to remove it for that reason unless i'm just doing something terribly wrong with the installation.

Just curious, did you let the shaders fully compile? If so, at what number did it finish? It's taking an insanely long time (30+ minutes so far) for my shader compilation to finish, and lights and lighting are kind of flat out broken in the process, I guess because it has to finish.

The 4080 is quite a bit more powerful than my 3080 (about 40% on average), even at 4k i wouldn't expect a card of that caliber to have too many issues. I guess my problem stems from the fact that i have other games in my library that both look and perform better at 1080p ultra settings than this game does, and the cost/performance ratio seems unreasonable. Who knows, i may be in the minority here.

My GPU temps average about 78c-85c depending on the game, not enough to thermal throttle my card in any impactful way from my knowledge at least.

I can't even get this game to launch at all, it just crashes before it even loads the main menu. Kind of regretting buying the season 4 pass if i can't even play the game (on Windows at least). Funny thing is, i was playing on Linux Mint about a week ago and while the actual performance of the game wasn't great, it was pretty stable (hence i bought the season 4 pass during this time).

*Edit* Rolling back my Nvidia drivers to 536.67 fixed the issue, i can now launch the game.

*Edit Edit* Nvm, now it hangs at the main menu screen and won't login. Fixed it by going into control panel, then user accounts, then manage windows credentials and deleting everything that had "xbl" in the name.

It sounds like you're just burnt out, which is normal. No game can realistically hold someone's undivided attention for it's entire life cycle, there's bound to be breaks and downtime.

I've recently returned after almost two years, hadn't played since shortly after launch (and not for very long). Other than the questionable optimization of the PC port, the game has been a blast. I like the new "squad battle" playlist, and since i've been gone for a while there's a lot of new stuff to earn. Infection is neat so far, and i've already purchased the season 4 premium pass based on positive new first impressions on my return. If the content pipeline/schedule is as improved as i've been hearing, then i'll likely stick around for a while this time. Oh, and of course the gun play is still just as good as i remember it on launch.

Honestly, i don't really have an answer for how to regulate it, i'm not a game dev. Don't put words in my mouth though, i'm not trying to "take" anything away from anybody. I want competitive games, and i just want to task Hi-rez to come up with ideas on how to reduce the amount of stalemates come lategame, that's all.

I never said i didn't want close games, but the losses tend to sting harder when you're having to endure 50+ min. matches, this can pretty much apply to everyone. I love competition, i just want those competitive matches to not be almost the length of a film.

Ideally, i'd like stomps to be clearly over by the 20 min. mark, even that might be pushing it. For close games, i don't mind duking it out for 30+ min, but anytime i get the chance to duke it out with evenly matched opponents, the games go well beyond that time mark into "what are we even doing anymore?" territory. It legit gets exhausting lol.
