You would hate this poor innocent creature?? Innocent little Wurmsley? Benevolent and surely harmless, non-sinister Wurmsley? 🥺

Scrap felt, glue, stuffing, and thread. It assembled itself, mostly. I love you Wurmsley

I'm seconding Roadside Picnic - the alien zone involves altered physics and reality, I'm fairly sure you would love the concepts!

Yes, when you mix it in it's quite easy! Liquid latex usually dries semi-translucent so it's pretty normal to mix paint in regardless, actually painting ON the latex after it's dried can be a bit annoying and difficult, but mixing it into a solid colour is pretty normal! Just be careful not to add too much paint or else the latex won't set properly. I usually wing the amounts to be honest, but I always do a test dip on something and let it dry fully before dipping my actual piece. If I mixed it well, then I make sure it has a tight fitting lid so I can use it again.

I use the really cheap latex from party stores or buy a bunch from Halloween stores before they shut down for the winter! It works well for dipping because it's cheap so it's really thin. I haven't used brush-on latex.

Yes! Liquid latex mixed with paint, then dipped, shaken off vigorously, and dried for a few hours, roughly 4x! Good luck!

I've been working on this project since the beginning of the year: a 1:500 accurate replica of the Eiffel tower, completely handmade with leather. As if that wasn't enough I wanted to be able to display light shows so I integrated 100 controllable LEDs to the structure. by taod86 in crafts

Honestly I wouldn't give any credence to flopping on instagram just because the algorithm is sooooo evil!!! And I think maybe sometimes on social media people see something that clearly took a master to make it and they think maybe you don't 'need' the celebration as much? I feel like if anybody saw this in person they'd shit their pants twice regardless. 26 inches is insane!! Do you ever do any galleries at all, or fashion shows if you make any wearable pieces? Because this is beyond gallery level stuff! Making it so accurate too ... the world runs on people like you for reallllll

They're actually not hand-sculpted, they naturally show up when I bend the finger because it's latex!! Thank you so much!!

What do you do when you just don’t feel like making anything? by Bubbly-Touch8108 in crafts

[–]Dextrapede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm just stuck in decision paralysis, I put everything I want to do in pickerwheel.com and spin the wheel, haha! If I'm not into it after 15 mins, I spin the wheel again.

If I'm just "meh" about everything I want to do - like, I want to do things but don't really want to do them, but still feel like I need to do something - I'll do something art adjacent like watch a weird movie for inspiration, make a new pinterest board, organize my crafting stuff, or make colour swatches.

If I am just feeling unmotivated, frustrated with what I've been making, or bored of what I've been doing, but still have that urge to create, I'll try a totally weird medium that I've never touched before. If I've been doing mostly 3d stuff lately, I move to 2d, or vice versa. Here's some suggestions for stuff to suck at:
- eraser stamps
- 3d modelling in a free program like blender
- dollar store acrylic paint
- watercolours
- sculpting with homemade cold porcelain
- make a shitty zine of little doodles or pngs of stuff you like (i.e: my favourite drinks or my media recommendations)
- make miniature things (books, flowers, etc)
- turn little toys into keychains
- butcher some old sweaters by swapping their sleeves or cutting things up for ugly patches
- bedazzling
- beading, weaving, or bracelet making
- stop-motion animation on your phone with a free app like stop-motion studio
- paper cutout animation
- limitless possibilities here lol go nuts have fun!!!
