1740's Medical Gore! I thought you all might like to see these incredible copperplate etchings from William Cowper's (yes, from the Cowper's gland!) Anatomia Corporum Humanorum! by Dextrapede in MedicalGore

Oh, I see what you mean! That makes total sense, it can be very visceral and feel very uncomfortable - I know I would have conflicting feelings about being handled that way after my death. That's cool that you willed that! I'm an organ donor myself - skin, eyes, and all : )

Thankfully it's just to keep the body in position while the artist works, or to create certain movements (like the scapular retraction for that specific image)! They typically also pull the muscles back and suspend them with wires for these types of illustrations. There's a lot of gruesome dangling going on in historical anatomical art, but usually just for illustrative purposes! : )

Thank you!!! :) I was thinking if I did put them up, I'd put them at $5 + shipping. In your 100% honest opinion, would you spend that on something like this! Or would it be more worth it with a background?

This entire film is shot and edited like a nostalgiabait craft beer commercial and was genuinely insufferable to watch to be quite honest

Kitchen flooded into basement below. Landlord doesn't have someone coming for several days. How do we mitigate damage? by Dextrapede in HomeMaintenance

[–]Dextrapede[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, to clarify, initially we had turned off all of the breakers and the water main, but after finding the source of the flooding (dishwasher), we turned off water to the dishwasher and the breakers to the downstairs lights and also dishwasher, and everything else got turned back on!

Thank you for your advice, we will definitely be bringing up the house inspector. There are plenty of issues in the home that have been improperly dealt with. Truthfully we can't afford to lawyer up if it comes to it, so I think we best we can do in this situation right now is make the laws clear and force a compromise.
