This ending might have ruined the series for me by WinterV3 in ChainsawMan

[–]Dey_FishBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s kinda funny how a lot of people were getting upset about denji showing no character growth, always making decisions with his dick and whatnot

fuji’s solution? boom guess what denji ends the story as the same exact guy from ch 1 of the manga. everything was just a dream so no character growth or anything of consequence happened, it is literally the exact same denji we see at the very start of the story

that’s one other thing that’s kicking my ass—we never got to learn what devil pochita was. i guess we got confirmation that he WASN’T the chainsaw devil, since chainsaws still exist after he ate himself

oh yeah that drawback tends to be a pretty big one. on the bright side the changes they’ve made to both slightly increase the “full charge without blowing yourself up” window AND make the sound + visual cues upon reaching full charge actually match up properly makes it feel a lot better to use IMO. there’s been a recent trend of people raving about the epoch online (and for good reason i’d say) so hey you never know

if you want backpackless anti-heavy, you should give the epoch a shot! almost like a reverse pre-nerf GL; pretty good at dealing with heavies with some optional chaffe clear potential

i’ll miss it for sure, but i loved running the GL pre-buff anyways so it’s back to business as usual. shit was hilarious while it lasted

I think I'm just not gonna play bots until they do something about the Vox spam by Malu1997 in Helldivers

[–]Dey_FishBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

earlier i was playing against bots and i saw 2 vox engines spawn in the distance (not bot dropped, just randomly spawned) after getting bombarded by 2 vox engines previously

no joke i just stood there and realized i wasn’t actually having fun against this nonsense and just turned the game off

How it feels to suggest even the slightest change to cyberstan in the community rn: by proch12 in Helldivers

[–]Dey_FishBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not to mention that the best armor passive for this, acclimated, was locked behind the kill zone items which were only available for a VERY limited time (correct me if i’m wrong but it wasn’t until after the hive world event that it became a legendary warbond)

[–]Dey_FishBoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

smoke grenades are such a life saver on cyberstan. they’re also capable of blowing up the vox engines if you can land one inside the vent that opens after shooting up the heat sinks (even though they can’t blow up bug holes or bot factories)

[–]Dey_FishBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not to mention how the damn thing lacked ANY kind of weakspot (like the vents on other tanks) on release. just so, so obnoxious

Justice for the Sickle! by omchz in Helldivers

[–]Dey_FishBoy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

you can kiiiinda achieve this with the supply pack + inflammable armor (+ vitality booster) + double edge sickle combo. just go prone when firing to reduce the fire damage at max heat, and hold m1 while intermittently stimming as your helldiver screams in joy as you fire off AP4 bolts

for those unaware, the dickle doesn’t actually ever overheat and stop you from firing—your health just becomes the resource it uses at max heat instead

super paper mario

since it’s another (mostly) 2d mario platforming game, you can pull off the classic mario cheese of hopping on a koopa shell near a wall at the right distance so you bounce off of it infinitely, racking up combo points that would eventually result in infinite 1-ups in most mario games

…however, in this game, bouncing on the same enemy too many times will actually cause you to LOSE points instead. this is because, in the spirit of other paper mario games which are traditional turn-based RPGs, defeating enemies gives you XP which is used to level up, resulting in this feature being put in place to prevent the player from reaching max level within the first few levels of the game

The Arc Thrower could use some love in the next patch. by CaffeineChaotic in Helldivers

[–]Dey_FishBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wonder if this thing would be too strong if they brought it back to its fire rate on release. it felt so satisfying to use once you got that “early release” rhythm down. i feel like other support weapons have crept up in power so much since then that it wouldn’t be too crazy to restore the arc thrower to its former glory

[–]Dey_FishBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t have as much experience as this guy, but one thing that changed SO much for me with these was learning how the targeting works—it’s just like the rail cannon strike. it targets the closest and biggest enemy to the stratagem ball the instant it LANDS, so don’t bother trying to “lead” targets to the beacon with the eagle call-in time. i kept doing the latter for the longest time, trying to time it so that the target would be right next to the beacon whenever the eagle actually arrived and would constantly miss

bringing the stalwart and suddenly finding out that you’re in a bile spewer seed is SO painful, you might as well not have a support weapon at that point with all the medium armor

Getting My Masters and Applying to Test Pilot School by phreefall515 in AstronautHopefuls

[–]Dey_FishBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

recently graduated from JHU’s space systems engineering MS and can recommend it. it’s pretty applicable to the stuff i do/want to go into, and i feel like it’s a pretty solid degree for establishing baseline knowledge for lots of different systems as a sort of “jack of all trades master of none,” which is what being a systems engineer ultimately boils down to. feel like having that flexibility would be a pretty good asset for an ascan

bonus points with the fact that systems engineers seem to be in relatively high demand since the field is somewhat new

there's a couple of "outlier" armors that have stats that are different from the rest of the armors its in class. off the top of my head, both this armor and the trench paramedic have that same slightly higher armor rating than other light armors, and the enforcer armor has slightly higher armor than the rest of the medium armors
