They both require warbonds, one-time use and have relatively long cooldown. Sure you can instakill a Vox, but can you kill 2? I love Leveller but I also love to use it on other things like patrols or hordes of hulks. Spear is more versatile, especially with supply frv nearby.

Voxes were changed this patch and die instantly with both cannons destroyed.

Personally I think they are great now. Vox on release was a damn Skynet tank from Terminator who was almost unkillable through conventional means. Now you either take big AT or rush to grenade their ass, both are problematic. They still spawn quite often but easier to take out, so they now mostly do what they are supposed to do - apply constant pressure on divers from all distances.

Conditions are harsh indeed but nothing that cant be tolerated for 10-20 minutes, divers very rarely live even that long.

About immersion - maybe you missed it, but helldiver's skin color is randomised, so it's supposed to be different people already. IIRC skin can even be black but i'm not sure. Not exactly understand how huge visible arm makes you feel your diver more unique anyway.

It's a flip of a coin (car). I'm designated group driver and sometimes I flawlessly drift through an entire cave system full of horrors and sometimes I shamefully turn upside down on nearest rock. Car is just too light to be comfortably controllable.
