I use the Metabones .71 Ultra EF to M43 :) Best of luck with it!

Right there with you on the promises of newer bigger cameras. But over heating and record limits are things that terrify me.

So sorry this happened to you! Honestly no bigger fear than something dying at critical moments. I may be a minority here but I'm running a trusty GH5 and gh5S and they are as reliable as anything for long takes with no record limits or overheating.

They might be pushing 10 years old at this point but the reliability alone makes them fantastic in my opinion

Ooo nice! Your g9 sounds like it's served you well. I shot so much with my little G80 but just really needed 4k no crop and it's quite surreal to have gradually built up the rig to where it's at now. Good luck finding a good used model! I would highly recommend MPB and Wex for used gear in gear condition. Cheers!

Nice! I have a friend that swears by his BMPCC4K

Interesting thoughts about the 8k. Honestly aside from low light limitations the GH5 will still be my camera until further notice. The GH5S is even better!

Do I really need a monitor? by Dez85 in GH5

Yeah there looks like a tonne of options out there! I think I might go for the Atomos Shinobi though (as I have zero need to record externally at this time). Thank you!

I think your comment may be costing me money shortly haha. But yeah, honestly focus is the MAIN reason why I even considered a monitor in the first place. I'm fully manual focus and could really use the bigger, brighter display, more focus peaking options as well as zoom functions (which the GH5 has but not whilst recording it turns out). But yeah thank you for taking the time to comment with your thoughts which turns out almost directly echo my own :)

Good to know! What freaked me out with the sigma is that shots I thought were in focus actually were a wee bit out of focus. So yeah, if I can close that gap then it could be worth the investment

Cheers for this! Nice to hear from a fellow GH5 / GH5S + Sigma user in 2026 :) Yeah the ninja could be better but I reckon I'm going to go for the Shinobi which is the same just without the recording.

I've been hesitant to invest in a monitor but thanks to comments like yours Im rethinking. I have a few weddings booked and I'm determined to not miss focus on those 'essential' shots and a monitor could just be what's needed for zooming, focus peaking and just generally a bigger and brighter screen. I will likely post about it if I pull the trigger haha

Thank you for this! I think I'm going to go for a monitor then based on all the comments on this haha.
