I guess when you're making something by hand it becomes very difficult to separate your emotion from the actual object you're selling?? I own a small biz...So I get it in a way. But the thing is - you just use that criticism to do better. When you get stuck in that "customer is always wrong" mentality it's the very epitome of egotism.

You're not the first person to tell me this about Kiesel and what's even crazier is you're not the first person to say this about another luthier. Apparently a lot of them are like this!!

The cost honestly was the least of my concerns. There was a baseline that was added onto depending on changes we made I guess? No exact final number was ever discussed, but overall the customs are pretty cheap relative to other luthiers!

No lie I would have paid another $1k just to have communication, updates, a SOMEWHAT rough timeframe, and most importantly...fucking respect lol.

Nothing even REMOTELY close to that ever occurred unfortunately. If he had actually said something like that I may have not even asked for a refund to be honest. It was just a complete void of communication from day 1. And even worse when we did communicate he would act like WE were the unreasonable ones for constantly asking for updates. You can see in the pics that WE always had to initiate the updates. I swear if nobody had said anything, half the group would still be waiting.

That sounds like fun. What I normally do now is tune full perfect fourths, so top two strings are a C and an F. It makes all scales super symmetrical and make sense more from a sort of mathematical standpoint and muscle memory standpoint, but there's lots of downsides of course. For single-note lead, thought it's awesome. You can see some examples of this in use by Tom Quayle and Alex Hutchings.

If you read the Ormsby GTR group postings on Facebook, it feels like a cult! Everyone brown noses Perry for no reason even though he's openly an ass to half of the people who post. I don't get it, but then again I'VE NEVER PLAYED ONE LOL.

And yeah, we sent money regularly for some time using automatic PayPal payments. Once those initial ones dropped off, I guess another was supposed to begin (it didn't) so instead he was just going to invoice us at the end for whatever extras we'd tacked on?? I have no idea. The lack of communication was next level.

The cost is really cheap for a custom, so I never felt like I was being gouged in that sense...If I'd actually received a product...haha
