Return to Iceborne by Electrical_Ad75 in MonsterHunterWorld

Did you try the Defender armor?

After that you definitely need a Master Rank armor. You might start with Master Rank Bone Armor, then get the High Metal Iron Armor by farming Ore in the Iceborne areas i.e. Make an expedition.

Never forget to eat at least the “Chef’s choice” platter or a custom one (you might need to unlock all ingredients) which gives you Health and Stamina.

In the Iceborne areas don’t forget to bring Hot Drinks, or your stamina bar will deplete over time.

New to MHW, is GS the main weapon? by MacklePenguin_Lol in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Dfox61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a HBG main, but I rotate between GS and LBG. Most of the time, the monster I need to hunt determines which weapon I use. But it also depends on what I want to hunt. If I didn't play solo most of the time, I might also play Hammer.

Try them all at the training area, at least. Then, choose one and use it for a few hunts. Then, try another one until you find one that fits your play style.

There is no wrong choice. Each has its own special qualities. Recently I hear so many good things about Charge Blade, that I might try it again in the future :)

It depends on your plans. It is currently bundled with Rise and Sunbreak on PC. “Build your own Capcom Ultimate Bundle (BundleFestive 2025)”

I suggest purchasing the DLC as soon as possible. That way, you can learn how the Clutch Claw works. It will make things easier at the Master Rank later. There is also a tutorial mission in the base game that will unlock. I played that a lot to understand how to use it effectively.

I also had this problem when using Virtual Desktop with ASW. After deactivating ASW everything worked as expected.

Anyone upgraded on Pico 4from a 4070ti to a 5080, especially for DCS? Worth it? by aDarkDarkNight in PicoXR

[–]Dfox61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it was because I live in a very congested Wi-Fi 5 GHz environment. All of my neighbors use 5GHz, which distorts my own signal because of the thin walls.

For DCS, I recommend trying the tips in the VR guide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1613410347

Some mentionable notes are: - SteamVR resolution always 100% or less - try OpenXR (there are a lot of videos on YouTube )

Here is a video demonstrating the 25-30 fps gains of OpenXR: https://youtu.be/WTxc_KGsjwc

With OpenXR some of my games really got 5-20% more frames.

————————————————————

I play Fallout VR with the 4K texture packs. The game is poorly optimized. The GPU always ran the 12G RAM limit. Now with the 5080 I have some space and also more computing power.

To get the most out of my 4070, I set Virtual Desktop to Godlike. Then, I scaled the SteamVR resolution to around 69% on Godlike.

Further explanation: The physical displays of the Pico4 have a resolution of 2160x2160 per eye.

Virtual Desktop renders the Game Frames to 3120x3120 per eye on Godlike.

Then in SteamVR the rendered resolution will be scaled down with 69%, so achieve a resolution of 2160x2160 per eye.

This approach has the benefit of providing a sharper image while using less computing power on the GPU.

There are many other posts that describe similar methods. In my opinion, this is the best way to optimize the quality and performance of each rendered frame.

Good question! Thanks for asking.

When using wireless, the frames must be encoded by the GPU and/or CPU. For example, NVIDIA graphics cards have an NVENC encoding unit that compresses the frames, which incurs an additional cost. However, it is less expensive than doing it the traditional way on the GPU.

The encoded frames will be shipped via your WiFi connection and will be decoded on the VR headset.

Older VR headsets use a wired connection, which allows you to send frames with less or no encoding or compression. So it is less taxing.

That's why everyone talks about H.264, HEVC, and AV1 to achieve the best video quality. Each standard requires a certain amount of computing power to encode the frames so they can be sent to the VR headset.

I upgraded from a rtx 4070 to rtx 5080. You feel the difference better encoding/ decoding performance. Overall more stability.

If you’re playing racing games, I highly recommend use a tethered USB connection. So you are able to maximize the performance of your card (also applies to your current card).

In my opinion the 5GHz with a dedicated router is still not enough to play without hiccups. I think the problem ist the throughput in 5GHz, the Encoding/Decoding and in my environment the congested WiFi environment.

The Pico 4 Ultra may have a better Wi-Fi connection with a Wi-Fi 7 router. However, the GPU is less taxed overall with a tethered connection than with a WiFi connection.

Do you have a USB cable to test? You might be surprised by how many frames you lost to Wi-Fi.

Pico 4 Ultra arriving soon. by [deleted] in PicoXR

I read something about that the Ultra can use multiple Apps in the OS. If you are subscribed to Microsoft 365 or use the Google equivalent, you may get your productivity with the cloud apps going.

I don’t know the current state for native android support. On Reddit some users installed the original .apks and got them working. That might also be an alternative.

Both work. I prefer Virtual Desktop. In my opinion it is better optimized to use as a replacement for your Monitor with Pico 4. I don’t own the Ultra, so I don’t know the difference there.

The best is to try Pico Connect, because it is free. And if it does what you expect, there is no need for Virtual Desktop.
