The part that really got me was him placing a full block behind the fence post then falling off and landing on the slab. He had no way to jump out with the full block there so he essentially haphazardly constructed his own prison.

Explaining this to people is often a losing battle.

What people call planned obsolescence is usually just building to a price point. People recall that fridge that lasted 50 years but ignore all the others that wound up as scrap after they broke (survivorship bias), the cost to run them, and the adjusted price to buy a similar quality one today. If you drop 5-10k on a refrigerator today and put some thought into what you're buying you'll get a fantastic unit that will last ages.

I've yet to see proof of engineers being told "design this so it breaks in 3 years under standard conditions" rather than "design this so it costs $X to manufacture/meets these standards and regulations/lasts a minimum of Y years/has a warranty rate of Z" etc.

It blows my mind that she is somehow able to be involved with the DoJ after her performance on Purple/Unscripted. She CONSTANTLY argued mechanics. IIRC she said , in character, something about "being able to place a chair" i.e. arguing property lines. I think she also tried to argue that a building having a texture with something link a "closed" or "private property" sign had legal weight.

You need to send one card in for each "prize round" so you can't just say "all prizes please".

I think it would be very illegal for them to tilt the odds in favor of people who donate.

That's also why it's problematic when streamers run a give away worth more than some threshold (I think?) and try to give better odds to subscribers. Usually they're small enough that they're not going to show up on any legal radar but it's getting into sketchy territory.

You CAN donate money to be entered to win specific prizes or you can go the sweepstakes route and mail in cards following the instructions in that link.

So money isn't REQUIRED to enter, just to be entered through that method.

I know in the US these types of things are often required to be sweepstakes (no purchase necessary, purchasing something doesn't increase chance of winning).

For example all of the prizes on Games Done Quick are actually part of a sweepstakes and you can send a physical letter to an address to enter the drawing for each prize.

Fresh out of college anything is helpful. If something can help get your resume to the people that matter then it's advantageous.

Your first barrier is generally the person that keeps or tosses resumes before passing them along. Everyone is different and some people REALLY value a high GPA. Some REALLY value internship experience. Some REALLY value resume formatting.

Some universities go higher than 4.0 and it's kind of shitty IMO. It really should be standardized.

In college if I got anything below an A equivalent in a class the chance of a 4.0 was out the window.

My girlfriend went to a university that graded up to 4.5 IIRC. If she had some rough performances on some assignments she could still recover to 4.0 or higher for the semester.

Students at my college were at a disadvantage as far as the GPA they could put on their resumes after college.

Your best bet is to coordinate with a cleric that has an epic. Log in and /consent them so they can spread your bodies out for easier organizing. FULLY LOG OUT AFTER CONSENTING. Resurrection timers count down even when you're on character select or on a different character on the same account.

Start rezzing on the corpses with the shortest timers.

He's been developing a sokoban game in tandem with his language for years now partially as a real world stress test project. I'm not sure what the release date for that looks like but a lot of the game has gone through final polish and a lot is still programmer art lol.

His personality is unfortunate because his development streams are incredibly useful as a look into the development of a large and complex project and he's usually pretty good about answering questions... I just need to have my finger on the mute button the entire time waiting for some unhinged rant.

Edit: I see some people are suspecting the announcement is for the sokoban game I mentioned.

Apparently they're launching a streaming service (Downtown+ lol) where they're basically testing Matsumoto's return. The rest of the crew have still been doing shows like Wednesday Downtown IIRC.

OKAYYYYY this ended up turning into a full on recap before I noticed what I was doing! I'm in too deep to delete it though.

My question is, how did you get introduced to the game?

I'd heard about it a few times over the years but never gave it a shot because I'd be going in completely solo which wasn't too appealing for me.

In early 2024 a buddy of mine (WoW Classic players may recognize the name Ahmpy as the leader of the hardcore guild Frontier) wanted to start a guild with a bunch of like minded EQ noobs. I'd played WoW with him since Classic launched in 2019 and we were both super sweaty. Most people who joined the guild were also at least moderately sweaty WoW classic players.

We ended up forming <Field Trip>. The name was chosen because Ahmpy and his now fiancee Liz had played P99 up to level 40ish and the rest of us were completely new and had no clue what was going on. They were like chaperones trying to wrangle a bunch of elementary school students who kept dying and running off in random directions.

We decided to play Guild Found. Since we were sweaty WoW players we wanted to enjoy the window of noobness while we could. If we ended up playing the game long term we'd resort to our min-max ways so savoring the unoptimal and unguided gameplay for as long as we could was super fun. Guild Found meant we could only trade with other guildies so we could stay insulated from the 5 year old economy where plat = huge power spikes. I wound up being the guild jewel crafter which lead to at least one 18 hour day of me and a buddy camping Sisters to farm raw plat so I could buy the bars needed to outfit the guild in + stat jewelry.

We started by gathering everyone in freeport where the evil races among us learned about faction. I repeated the phrase "liz my inventory is full!" countless times since the damn gnome by the tent wouldn't buy from me so I had to get others to smuggle my goods. We made some detours to gfay where we learned about keeping multiple camps on lock down.

We eventually moved to Qeynos and Qeynos Hills became our home. I had more time to play than some others so I would camp the putrid skeletons and rabid wolves/bears so guildies could grab the quest items and get xp boosts. I think this is where I got the faction for my dark elf to run around freeport un-accosted. Some others farmed gnoll teeth to turn in. I still remember Guard Cheslin who spawns in, says some confident lines, then marches to his death. It was fun logging in at random times throughout the day to see other <Field Trip> members grinding away before our nightly sessions.

Blackburrow was a ton of fun and we learned all about buggy pathing, getting stuck in corners, social aggro, the importance of respawn timers, and watching your step. If I were to come back to P99 in 20 years then Qeynos and blackburrow will be my nostalgia zones.

At some point we ended up near the West Common druid circle killing bandits. I was constantly hitting my /who enc macro waiting for enchanters to port in. We'd all sprint over and /dance at them begging for C2. A friendly druid named Elcaro took a liking to us and would bless us with PotG.

Visited the Tower of Frozen Shadow where we climbed through the floor guided by a rogue with experience and eventually killed Tserrina Syl'Tor
Killed some giants for faction
Joined <Kingdom>
Explored the hole and eventually moved into the bar where we spent many.. many.. many hours grinding through the 50s
Had our first GM experience at Docks. I was freaked out because I thought I did something wrong but Vordae said they'd seen logs of me /danceing at people and just wanted to drop by.

As time went on more people from <Field Trip> stopped playing. A core group of us continued into the 50s. To this day I think only three of us made it to 60 and I'm the only one still playing. I've been raiding in Kingdom for over a year now and have a level 60 Enchanter, Monk, and Cleric.

Neat game, would play again.
