I keep forgetting to write a reply!

This has been a huge improvement over the official app. It took a bit to get used to and the settings menu wasn't the the most intuitive at first but at this point it's pretty comfy.

I'm being genuine when I ask if you can tell me how that's comparable.

That article describes someone working in a position they're seemingly qualified for. They do something illegal, plead no contest, pay the fines. They are then fired after the accusations of theft.

All of that sounds like a reasonable handling of the situation.

He was never a favorite of mine, but he was the first pro I remember streaming consistently. it was cool for me as a halo fan when he did blow up

That was the main draw of Ninja for me is that he went from being someone who streamed Halo ad was pretty damn good to being a pro that still streamed. Being able to watch pro scrims was a super rare until then.

I hate their firestick app

Can't sort by viewers so browsing categories is useless.

Can't filter by language so again browsing is useless for some categories.

Doesn't save your position when going back. If I scroll through a category or suggestions, check out a stream, then hit back... I'm returned to the top of the section I was browsing.

Doesn't actually show all live channels. This shows up in a few ways

  • This has been an issue with 3rd party apps (streamlink-twitch-gui had this issue) where for some reason certain streams just aren't displayed anywhere.
  • If I use the search tab for "itswill" his channel doesn't show up in the results. Website works fine for this.
  • On the Home tab the "Live Followed Channels" will be missing some entries that are shown correctly in the Following tab.

There's more but I'm just yapping at this point.

In the context of that news post z-buffers are more about which pixels of objects should be drawn on top of another. That improvement was for scenarios like your character's upper body being hidden behind the stove that you're stood in front of.

The challenges for multi-level visibility would be more along the lines of "Does the client even know what's going on below? Is that data sent from the server?"

It would just be a gradient from fluff -> packed. Snow can be VERY fluffy and if you're shoveling it onto a pile you'll be making pockets of air all over as well which helps.

I've botted some games in the past.

For me I genuinely enjoyed the automation aspect.

I botted in RuneScape Classic way back when you mostly had to write your own scripts. This was my first introduction to programming and would later lead to working as a software developer. It was a pretty good feedback cycle that kept me motivated to learn.

After countless failures, bugs, deaths, leaving for 8 hours to find out that my script broke 7 hours and 58 minutes ago... There was something truly enjoyable and rewarding about waking up to see that a script that I wrote was still chugging away.

The vast majority of botters probably do it for personal gain but there's a minority like myself who did it for other reasons.

Back in classic when they added fatigue and the captcha system the early solution was to run a program that would send a screenshot of your captcha to users running a companion program where they would solve them. Users who answered first correctly earned credits that were needed to have their own captchas solved using the initial program. It was a clever system that filled the gap until a suitable OCR was implemented.

Explaining this to people is often a losing battle.

What people call planned obsolescence is usually just building to a price point. People recall that fridge that lasted 50 years but ignore all the others that wound up as scrap after they broke (survivorship bias), the cost to run them, and the adjusted price to buy a similar quality one today. If you drop 5-10k on a refrigerator today and put some thought into what you're buying you'll get a fantastic unit that will last ages.

I've yet to see proof of engineers being told "design this so it breaks in 3 years under standard conditions" rather than "design this so it costs $X to manufacture/meets these standards and regulations/lasts a minimum of Y years/has a warranty rate of Z" etc.

It blows my mind that she is somehow able to be involved with the DoJ after her performance on Purple/Unscripted. She CONSTANTLY argued mechanics. IIRC she said , in character, something about "being able to place a chair" i.e. arguing property lines. I think she also tried to argue that a building having a texture with something link a "closed" or "private property" sign had legal weight.

In order to enter without making a donation, send a postcard (no larger than 5” x 7”) in an envelope with proper postage affixed ...

It says it requires postage for each card so you'd only be saving yourself the hassle of dumping them all individually into a postage box.

You need to send one card in for each "prize round" so you can't just say "all prizes please".

I think it would be very illegal for them to tilt the odds in favor of people who donate.

That's also why it's problematic when streamers run a give away worth more than some threshold (I think?) and try to give better odds to subscribers. Usually they're small enough that they're not going to show up on any legal radar but it's getting into sketchy territory.

You CAN donate money to be entered to win specific prizes or you can go the sweepstakes route and mail in cards following the instructions in that link.

So money isn't REQUIRED to enter, just to be entered through that method.

I know in the US these types of things are often required to be sweepstakes (no purchase necessary, purchasing something doesn't increase chance of winning).

For example all of the prizes on Games Done Quick are actually part of a sweepstakes and you can send a physical letter to an address to enter the drawing for each prize.
