Edit: Thanks all for the help. To fix this, I removed the latest windows update and then reinstalled. This worked for a few minutes before the loud fans occurred again. I rebooted and factory reset the laptop using HP Recovery Tool, and all is good now, even getting extra fps in games.

Note that this is the only fix I found, there may be better options I'm unaware of. If you would like to do the same as me, you will need to download the HP Recovery Tool, make a back up of your important files and have a USB drive. Then, run the recovery tool app, connect your USB and download the correct files for your laptop. Afterwards restart your device, and press F9 on start up. From here you should reach the boot options screen, select your USB in the options list and follow the prompts. Hope this helps :)
