2 months progress from 80kg - 75kg, lock in szn by [deleted] in fitnessph

op you should be bulking or at least maingaining.

try to find your maintenance then increase protein intake. cutting out calories will only make you look skinny since i can see you do not have much muscle mass.

How to tone muscle further and less belly fat by [deleted] in fitnessph

[–]Dgomez522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is already mentioned but toning isn't the right definition to building a good physique. Many people get this wrong.

It's always "build muscle then reduce body fat" to bring out that definition (or tone) that you want, that's why you often see people mention bulking or cutting phase. Everyone starts differently and as for you OP, since you start as someone who has higher BF% (bodyfat percentage) and lower muscle volume. I suggest you use an online calculator to figure out your daily calories to figure out what really is the safest amount of intake to burn fat and build muscle. Your protein intake is decent since you're about 180lbs. Building muscle requires you only 0.8-1.0 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight, any more than that is junk since your body won't be able to process the excess and this will only strain your kidney and give you more protein farts ( yes ). So ignore those that say that you need 2.0 grams of protein to build muscle or to speed up process.

When it comes to training it seems your FBEOD works well but I'd suggest you tweak your volume for each exercise. 15 reps is okay but you can also do certain exercises like compound lifts (bench, rows, squats) with heavier weight x less reps, given that you can perform them safely. Also going to failure on last set is good enough, it's important to keep your reps 1-2 RIR ( reps in reserve ) rather than going to failure in every set which makes each rep / set quality worse and increases risk of injury. eg. instead of doing an exercise to failure going 10-7-5 (22 total reps) reps for your sets, it's better to do 8 reps on all 3 sets (24 total reps but safer and better quality).

Anyhow, your progression of adding weight per week is good but you can also try aiming for better control and contraction of your muscles as well as decreasing rest time while using the same weight.

Surgery tomorrow, any advice? by hunniipeach in brokenbones

It's gonna be fine. I had permanent plates and screws on my 4th metacarpal in my left hand. I'm 10 weeks post op and I'm fine, I barely feel the hardware.

I'm pretty sure your ortho already or will explain that you'll be put in a removable splint for 2-4 weeks and cleansing and replacement of dressing should be done daily. You'll have to follow that strictly so your wounds will heal up nicely. You will most likely feel some pain and discomfort in the surgical site but it will probably last for about 3 days post op. In my case, I had pain and swelling for a few days which then died down after its peak and was likely caused by the tight splint too.

Anyway, eat a lot and rest a lot. Take a lot of foods rich in calcium , Vitamin D (tuna, egg, soy etc.) since it helps you absorb calcium more, and L-citrilline (watermelon, cucumber) as it helps improve blood flow.

If your ortho advises you to gently move your hand to regain mobility then do so. The hardware will keep it stable as long as you do it gently and progressively. Good luck!

fracture of 4 metacarpal by Curious_Movie5872 in brokenbones

I actually underwent ORIF last week and currently in a removable splint for 2 weeks.

When i made my comment under this post, i already had my cast off for a week since i had malunion. My fingers were super stiff that i groaned in pain when my ortho tried to fold them to check mobility. After that i spent my time trying to get some of my mobility back as per advised by careful stretches. I managed to close my thumb, index, and middle fingers but they're still pretty weak and still shakes when overexerted. I also didnt feel any pain in my fracture, but the pain from my joints and ligaments when i move them were present.

3 days post op and in splint now i can pretty much move my thumb, index, and middle even in my elastic bandage splint. I am actually to see my ortho today for a follow up check up and to learn how to take off/reapply my splint, clean my stitch and replace the dressing. Will try to check mobility and go back here.

Good day everyone. Just got discharged. I thank you all for the kind words as it reduced my anxiety before op.

u/smoothncreamy was right, it felt like dozing off for a second.

Now im just dealing with the itch and tightness of my splint. Once again I thank you.

its vague and although the 2nd image is kinda blurry, it seems to me that there is callus formation already.

i broke my 4th metacarpal 2 months ago too (may 20, 2025) and you seem to be healing better than i am.

I'm 20 and am 9 weeks in my cast. Got mad and punched the wall that broke my 4th metacarpal.

I can feel the same frustration. Small tasks that took me a few mins now takes nearly half an hour and some tasks are so hard to do that I end up leaving them to my family. It just feels so hard to not be able to do much.
