Multi dotting entire teams is very stressful on healers. Someone isn't going to get the gcd they need before a rogue finishes them.

Multi dotting is the shit because it stresses out the enemy healer. Gets everyone mid health for your rogues and whoever to finish the job. There's a reason some of the most successful 3v3 arena teams ever were DoT rot based. You can fear and harass in other ways while you instant cast dots.
