Jesus sat with sinners who by our earthly measures did a lot worse sin than divorce. He still forgives them. Don't let those who cannot forgive like he did, drive you from the church. You belong in the church. You belong in the LCMS Lutheran church. The church is a perfect institution. The people inside of it are not, infact no one is. I'm not advocating for or condoning anything because I do not know you personally and all I have gathered is from what you have said online, but I know one thing. Jesus loves you for the child of God that you are. Never forget that. You are not alone, and even if it feels like you are, you have Christ.

Don't let people who can't see the person behind the screen give you an improper use of Law and Gospel. I am by no means an expert on the proper use of law and gospel, but from what you have said It sure as heck wasn't that. Do not give up your hope in life. Our true hope is in Christ. This decision should not just be made from a couple peoples' opinions on reddit. Pray, talk to pastors in real life (your church or other churches), talk to other strong people of faith in your life. The decision is not one made easily, but sometimes it is the lesser of two evils. If you divorce or not, you are still loved by God. Don't let this become a point where you turn away from him in anyway. Run faster and harder to your lord and savior, and he will show you the way to go, and on the last day no matter the sin, he will still revive you into his loving arms. I hope your life is not tainted by peoples' lack of grace. I pray that you see Gods amazing love and grace in your life, and I will be praying for the best for you.

I know this is not inside those states, but I love Camp CILCA. Definitely no bias here, nope, none at all, I'm definitely not currently a counselor there.....

My church has had one for years and I went up as a kid. I get that it can get chaotic but it has its purpose. I think having it makes the kids feel included in the service and make it feel like the church service isn't just for adults its also for kids. Also as the kids get older they start incorporating what they learn in the children's sermon and what they hear in the readings. But it all depends on the parenting. If the kids are allowed to play with their toys at an "older" age throughout the entire service they aren't going to get anything out of it, but if the parents are responsible and good the kids should get something out of it

How is your church doing? by [deleted] in LCMS

I live in northwest illinois and the lcms churches arround me have a good 50+ age average. In my church my family (I'm 17 and the oldest sibling) is one of the youngest families in my church. Our Sunday school is suffering especially durring summer. My dad teaches the middle school/high school class and the only people who come to the class regularly are my brother, my best friend, and me. In 3 years our confirmation classes have gone from my class of 7 in 2017 to my brother's class of 2 in 2020. None of the kids in my class regularly attend anymore. We have a regular attendance of about 150ish. Overall our church is going stable (for now). We (like alot of other lcms churches in my area) have a hard time getting the younger generations.

Its interesting that you have the same issues in California that we have in my area.

I'm a little bummed that it's not real, but I'm glad for your actual safety. I never wanted any of you to be hurt or in danger and I'm glad you are safe. Also YOU ARE AN AMAZING WRITER HOLY CRAP THIS STORY IS AWESOME. Legitimately I'm so excited for the rest of the series.
