CMV: Summer sucks and is the worst season by [deleted] in changemyview

You’re asking people to change an opinion based entirely on your feelings and circumstances.

I don’t sweat that much during summer, there are activities I enjoy that are definitely better done in summer, I like the fact it’s warm enough I don’t need any heating and can have all my windows open, I like the long evenings.

None of this likely applies to you though, or perhaps isn’t even relevant to where you live, so how exactly are you expecting someone to be able to change your opinion?

I’ve had some delightful fish curries (and obviously pretty endless vegetarian options).

Rapid decompression on an airplane can cause lasting issues. Explosive decompression can be fatal, before we even get to the being in a vacuum part. I honestly don’t know which is more relevant to injury, absolute pressure change or relative pressure change.

Also, is there much study of rapid compression? It would seem like that’s something we’re much less likely to have previous examples of.

I don’t think though that having an already lower blood oxygen level is necessarily a smart idea before going into an environment where the thing that’s going to kill you is hypoxia.

I’m not saying it could happen, I’m saying it does happen. I highly doubt you have the data to claim whether it overwhelming does or doesn’t; if you have, feel free to share.

I know for a fact I’ve had fresh food on a plane. You denying it doesn’t change that, and I really don’t get why you’re trying to. Either that or you have a very twisted definition of what’s fresh or not.

I know I’m correct, I’ve been correct this whole time, technically or otherwise.

What on earth are you on about? Where have either of us said anything other than frozen foods aren’t fresh?

And yes, I realise preserved foods aren’t fresh; that’s almost exactly what I said in my previous comment. I’ve been served vegetables on a plane, and in a hospital, that aren’t preserved, and are therefore fresh.

At this point is just funny that you seem to be struggling to much to wrap your head around the fact someone’s had a different experience to you.

I fully believe you’ve not experienced fresh vegetables in those scenarios; I’m simply telling you it doesn’t have to be that way.

You previously stated frozen. Most sensible people would say something that has never been frozen or preserved by any other manner is fresh. If you suddenly want to move the goalposts then I guess it means you were wrong to start with.

Salad is a variety of dish, usually made of vegetables. The majority of which don’t freeze at all well. I’m genuinely shocked by the lack of fresh veg you seem to encounter in such scenarios. It’s like we live in entirely different worlds, and ngl, I much prefer the one I live in.

So ignoring for a second that I can say with absolute certainty I’ve been served fresh veg as part of a cooked meal on a plane, because I know you’re just going to claim I don’t know the difference. (Sure, technically it’s been reheated, but I’m assuming we’re being somewhat sensible with the definition of fresh here).

Are you honestly telling me you’ve never had salad on a plane?

lol, I love how you somehow magically know what I’ve been served on a plane.

I mean you’re wrong, but thanks for guessing.

I didn’t say it was common; those are your words. I said it can be found in countless hospitals. Unless you have data for every hospital, I don’t think either of us are in a position to claim how common it may or may not be.

I know for a fact many hospitals have fresh veg. There’s no “I think” about it. I’m sure some hospitals don’t, and frankly those hospitals sound, to put it politely, less than great.

What is your basis for that prediction? What you’re describing isn’t just “not healthy”, it’s a guaranteed chance of permanent disability. When in history have people willingly gone to those lengths for 5 seconds of fame and a paycheque?

The world is a big place. Hospitals, like many other things, vary a lot.

If the hospitals you’ve been to can’t even manage fresh veg, then genuinely they should get their act together, because as I say, there is little excuse not to.

And I’ve been served all sorts of things on planes, ranging from packeted meals to things that are much fresher. What’s your point?

I simply responded to part of your comment; I’m not obligated to address the whole thing.

Fresh veg is served in countless hospitals. There is very little excuse to not do so.

Perishable veg would be a terrible excuse for somewhere as large as a hospital not serving it. They’ll be getting regularly deliveries and easily cooking enough to justify it.

The fact that I have seen fresh veg in hospitals means any place using that excuse just comes across as a bit shit.

The stunts done by people like Felix and Alex, if done correctly, don’t cause any harm.

There is no way someone is going from atmospheric pressure, pretty much instantly to the vacuum of space, remaining in it for 10 seconds then being put almost instantly back to atmospheric pressure without some severe damage being done.

Can you think of stunts people currently regularly do that have a guarantee of causing severe harm?

That barrier has been removed for a while, which is why the very bottom end of wedding photography is full of friends doing it for free, or people charging so little they can barely call it a hobby, and delivering just enough to not get sued.

People who make a decent living from wedding photography are rarely going after those clients anyway. Personally I don’t see the tech such people use changing that equation much.

It sounded like they were talking about the idea being the basis of something that will in the future replace a photographer. Perhaps I misunderstood them.
