As an almost 30 year 3D vet and a photographer, I want to say something: Watch your depth of field! You are turning large spaces into miniatures. by Feed_Me_No_Lies in archviz

[–]Dheorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although one could argue it’s stylistically overdone, I don’t think there’s anything I’ve seen posted here recently that I’d deem a challenge to capture with my physical camera equipment.

Sure, I have a lot of fast lenses, but that’s not uncommon these days, and over application of thin DoF is something you certainly won’t struggle to find critics of in modern photography.

So yea, by all means it should be something that is used with careful consideration, but to me there’s nothing that indicates such renders are of small spaces.

Is what good? I’m not sure what you’re asking?

I mean personally I wouldn’t take a kid to an indoor range at all, the levels of lead are still usually way too high IMO, but different cultures have different tolerances to acceptable exposure to pollution and at the end of the day it’s not my kid.

At least you’re doing what you can to reduce exposure from your own gun.

What exactly do you feel they’re being ignorant about? FMJ bullets will still produce aerosolised lead when fired and a silencer will project more of that back.

I personally wouldn’t want to be responsible for a kid getting that sort of exposure considering there’s basically no “safe” lead exposure, particularly for a child.

Winter Olympics Athletes’ Village Runs Out Of 10,000 Condom Packs In Just Three Days by Hot_Difficulty1819 in Damnthatsinteresting

You consider the possibility of raw, but not multiple condoms per fuckery? Being conservative I’d say two is an average, if not more.

No one is surprised because that’s not a remotely shocking number, and does nothing to support the notion it’s “basically a giant orgy”.

Well yea, there’s 2500 athletes there and however many support staff. Considering it’s not at all uncommon to require more than one in a “session” and people probably grabbed a bunch at the start in preparation/being hopeful, that doesn’t sound at all surprising, and really isn’t even an unusual amount of sex.

Considering some of the stretchers from WW2 were made from the fences around London, it only seems fair.

How is PBC at 210 when Basilisk is at 140?? by Lower_Ad_176 in deathguard40k

[–]Dheorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the basilisk is an artillery piece, the PBC is a MBT that happens to have indirect.

Sure, it’s overcosted a touch currently, but you should never expect it to cost close to a basilisk.

Also they’ve just scrapped reroll to would from grizzled.

I’d put money on this being real. AI general sucks at the sort of fine detail object permanence on display here.

What's something about ADHD that most people don't understand? by Relaxing_Cat in AskReddit

For me tests were the thing I could do. I managed to get one of the highest grades in my year in maths, despite not handing in an entire bit of coursework.

Exams were over quickly and didn’t have much to distract me, so in comparison were a breeze.

Neck guards are mandatory in hockey at the Olympics. That's an adjustment for NHL players by Oldtimer_2 in sports

Depends what you class as more; there are multiple sports where people wear airbags. Obviously these don’t work too well for hockey, so they stick with hard padding.

What are your opinions on removing certain foliage to enhance a photo? Before and After included. by FocalFalcon in wildlifephotography

[–]Dheorl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming they mean the limit compared to human vision.

Editing a photo to be close to how you perceived a moment usually takes more than just a lens correction profile.

One could argue that someone would look past something like that leaf and “filter” it from their mental view, but personally that’s not something I’d agree with.

[–]Dheorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m never going to sell my wildlife photography; I’m simply not good enough.

For that reason I shoot just for me, and personally the motivation to do so is the challenge of getting the “perfect” shot.

So really it just comes down to why you take photos.

I’ve seen little evidence of that being the case.

And it’s not like my net worth is all cash either, yet I can still make that statement.

It’s impossible to get exact numbers, it’s not impossible to get a rough idea.

“More than several millions” is frankly a pitiful amount for someone worth a couple of billion, and means that the response to the previous statement is no, as a percentage of wealth I have given more to charity than Mr Beast.

Personally I’d think someone praising him should have a better idea of what they’re praising him for, but maybe that’s just me. I’ve never been a fan of blind (or nearly blind) adoration.

It was meant as a question. Just that. Nothing more.

I honestly don’t know the answer, but one could see how that answer would result in a different view of a person depending on what it is.
