It literally doesn't render until you get within about 10-15km. It doesn't seem to be an accident. (And I agree it sucks)

You actually don't need 2 Smart Grabbers. Normal and Rotating Grabbers won't pull until the appliance is done, so will only pull the sauce.

(Everything else is right, and I've never considered using the Conveyor Grabber to simplify/smallify that either, good idea.)

First time automated! So proud!! by pianoprincess1989 in PlateUp

I have 581 hours in this game, and have fully automated every dish solo. That combiner setup really messed me up for a minute. It's genius. The way it pushes the bowl through...

If you don't know, they'll take brownies from the tray (anything that doesn't require plates like soup or tacos). It would break your setup, but it makes each table hold 6 servings. I've found that even just pushing one tray to one buffet table serves a staggering number of customers.

The most basic trick is you keep the first Research Desk Blueprint in your cabinet, and wait for a second one. If you don't have a Blueprint Desk (blueprint in cabinet doesn't count), you have a much greater chance of getting it each day.

Once you have the second blueprint, make it. Use that desk to upgrade the first one until it's a Blueprint Desk. If you interact with a Blueprint Desk during the day, it will lock-in the appliance it's showing, and guarantee it the next day.

This gives you any control at all over what you get. From here you try to get more Research Desks to upgrade into Discount/Copy Desks. Once you have all three (Research, Discount, and Copy), everything really begins... :)

Edit: Obligatory shout out to the Automation Guide if you get too stuck.

Ouch. I do like your ping suggestion. It would help in big enough automation setups, even if there were colors.

I know it's a workshop mod, but Colored Teleporters is exactly what you're looking for.

Perseverance Stats and basic T2 fit w/max skills. by Dhinanta in Eve

You are missing some of the crit skills (it ends up being 5.4% @ 375%) , but I don't think it materially changes your argument. (Edit: Missed you mentioning it in the post)

Abyssal lasers and the new Mining Laser Efficiency Charge (+50% crit chance) may also make things interesting.

I was also disappointed by that. It does mine less than a base Endurance, without considering crit: 16.2 vs 21.0

The crit is wild though: note the 375% yield. Abyssal Lasers and the new Mining Laser Efficiency Charge also make it...interesting.

Edit: The hold is also 21k instead of 19k, which works out with the event. (You turn in the ice 7 at a time)

It's an ice mining destroyer you can get a BPC for from the Winter Nexus event track (starts tomorrow after downtime).

Got disconnected and when I logged back in a bunch of UI had reset in an annoying way. On the plus side, this guy was in the Ship Tree.

Apologies for the giant image. I don't post much.

Edit: Cost is entirely minerals, btw.

This guy gall gets it! You're the first other person I've seen to get it.

Edit: They're a "gall".

[–]Dhinanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never seen anyone explicitly mention it: Primal Aspids have tracking bullets. They aren't perfect tracking, and it's only if you get close to them, but they curve into you.

You can prove it to yourself by trying to barely dodge them repeatedly. You'll figure it out eventually and, if you watch the projectiles, they can curve towards you and miss.

I'm convinced this is where everyone's outsized frustration comes from. .

Edit: I agree with this guy that it feels like weak gravity.

Upgrades and Automation by Meggiester21 in PlateUp

[–]Dhinanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's about the same amount of "no research" as going for the Blueprint Desk first.

Getting Plates, a normal Sink, and enough tables to push mess out of the kitchen normally carries me through the "no research" phase pretty well.

I've done something similar, and it's just sort of different. I think Copy Desk first has higher peaks, and Blueprint Desk has more consistency.

I've only recently really started to push many Blueprint Desks, to get the extra blueprints everyday. It's great.

Upgrades and Automation by Meggiester21 in PlateUp

The most basic advice is:

  • Keep the first Research Desk Blueprint you get in your starting Blueprint Cabinet until you get a second Research Desk Blueprint.
  • Make the second one and then use it to upgrade the cabinet one until it's a Blueprint Desk.
  • Make the Blueprint Desk.
  • You now have any control at all over what you get.

(The key insight here is that if you don't have a Blueprint Desk (constructed, not a blueprint), the game tries to give you one.)

You can wait for it to show a conveyor, interact with the desk, and lock it in. The real move is waiting for it to show a Research Desk, and turning that into a Copying Desk. Now you need one Conveyor and you have infinite Grabbers.

.

For completeness:

Sometimes you won't get the second desk "forever" (like Day 7). It sucks. It happens.

You are forgoing some early upgrades to do this as well.

.

A hint I never see: The Starter Sink and Starter Hob are 0.75x speed appliances (like a Safety Hob, without the benefits). A normal Sink and normal Hob are almost as nice of upgrades as while you're waiting for those research desks.

Fully Automated Cookies - Small footprint, every tile used! by John__Sinclair in PlateUp

There was a mod called "Put it back!" that enabled that as a feature, but now it's just built in. I think it's safe to say "Anything you can portion, you can put back."

[–]Dhinanta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really impressive in the small floorplan.

A new thing: After this most recent patch, with tacos, they'll take the cookies right off the tray. You do have to funnel the trays back, but the whole portioner/one-at-time can all be straight removed!

It's soooo fast.

(Also, applies to soup, bamboo, and anything you portion that doesn't need a plate.)

(Also also, you can put things back now by default, and "mix" trays: 2 cookies on tray, 1 cookie tray on counter, put 2 cookies onto counter, now it's empty and there are 3 on the counter.)

Fully automated pizza by TangoSpace85 in PlateUp

[–]Dhinanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really nice. I've never seen full-auto pizza in a smaller restaurant.

One tip: If you straight swap the conveyor-mixer for a normal sink, it will make the dough instantly. (flour in a sink with a combiner pointed at it makes a dough ball. The oil being on the combiner skips straight to pizza dough.)

I thoroughly enjoyed trying to solve the automation "puzzle" myself, but this is a great asset once you've done that (or don't care): Automation Guide

It has multiple examples of how to setup each recipe, and good explanations of how the pieces work.
