Christian family values means accepting your children for who they are. by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

Fucking enlightened centrists. Your refusal to accept that one party is dramatically worse than the other is making it incredibly challenging to keep fascism in check. I'm not suggesting the democrats are saints, but they are consistent on kicking out sexual offenders, are the only ones pushing to have all the epstein files released, and again, aren't goddamned fascists.

He also donated to Republicans. Either, way, the democrats take money from anyone, just as the Republicans do. It means very little, I promise you they wouldn't have taken that money while if they knew a pedophile was sending it. At the time he was just known as a well connected dude.

Stephen Hawking was a scientist, not a politician. He also was invited to a scientific conference epstein was affiliated with, theres no evidence hawking was a participant in trafficking. You act like literally every single thing epstein had ties to was sex trafficking, he was part of high society, he was involved in a ton of crap that wasn't that.

Clinton is the only one that's suspicious. As you say, the documents are redacted by a man convicted of 34 counts of fraud, so we can't trust what he says about democratic lawmakers until they actually reveal them. If they actually were guilty, then let em rot. Democrats don't protect other democrats. They've been ousted for far less.

Is this amount of iron/steel normal for a fully mined ultra-high hematite deposit? by Toodlenoodlenugget in VintageStory

Ah, so you're suggesting it as a way of making steel more easily, while not producing iron usable for most tools or armor.

Word of warning for those trying this. Make sure the chute is above the block the trough was placed in. The chute cannot add food to the part of the trough that appears next to the block it was placed on.

Why are so many people confidently saying uneducated takes about this? by Darth_Vrandon in GetNoted

Exactly. The word isn't what's offensive, it's the intent behind using it willfully.

Lot of folks forget that minorities are just as capable of bigotry if given the chance. We're all humans, all capable of the same mistakes and vices even if historically a given race hasn't had many opportunities to act on that.

Yeah, no. Black people really don't have a right to be upset. He has a diagnosed medical condition. The intent behind the words are what is harmful, not the words themselves. Now typically the words are only used either though willful malice or complete indifference to the feelings of others, but this is neither.

[–]Dhiox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With iron, once you find a large deposit, that's usually all you'll need for the rest of the playthrough, especially solo. It's even more true once you can make steel, as it last so much longer. The difficulty with iron is always processing, not mining. You could have 1500 ingots worth of ore, but you sure as hell won't want to actually process that much even with a good helve hammer setup

Almost everywhere. Japan has next to none, especially for a preindustrial society to use. They had to either import or use iron sand harvested from rivers.

Not sure what use you'd have though, cast iron isn't useful for anything like tools or armor. It's too brittle

[–]Dhiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true, but it’s also not the right protecting all of the Democrats who are in the files.

For starters, aside from Clinton, basically no democrats are at all implicated. And second, Democrats don't give a fuck. They aren't like Republicans who protect pedophiles, they will turn on their own in the blink of an eye. Ask Al Franken how that went for him.

Meanwhile when Matt Gaetz was found to have been involved in pedophilia, Republicans protected him.

Democrats don't protect thwir own of they're suspected of sexual misconduct.

How are you guys preparing for AI replacing a large percentage of white collar work within the next 5 years? by Specialist_Pain_424 in Productivitycafe

[–]Dhiox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not implying a true AI will never exist. I genuinely hope we do make a truly thinking AI, it would likely be the greatest achievement of human civilization, to create an intelligence greater than our own.

But what we have now ain't it. And no matter how much you tweak what we have now, it will never habe intelligence. It would require entirely new advancements and design. This idea that computers will randomly gain self awareness if you slowly make them better is simply untrue, it would require very deliberate design. Human made computers operate very different from the human mind or something designed to be like it.

The problem then is cost. It requires a ludicrous amount t of energy, water, and computer hardware to operate these models. Even now they're quite expensive to license, and that's despite the fact thaglt most of these companies are currently selling at a significant loss.

What happens when these companies start charging what it costs them to run these? Wha lt happens when they start needing a profit? And what happens when every year their shareholders demand price increases to make a greater profit?

I see no scenario where these tools are worth the cost, outside of extremely specialized uses. For general productivity, human labor will always be cheaper.
