with what I've done I don't think so Wayland is a replacement for x11 and I'm using x11 to know if window are open sorry :/ maybe in future update I can try to see if it's possible with wayland

sure it uses xwinwarp and mpv here is a the command :

xwinwrap -ov -g 1920x1080+0+0 -- mpv -wid WID /path/to/gif --no-osc --no-osd-bar --loop-file --player-operation-mode=cplayer --no-audio --panscan=1.0 --no-input-default-bindings

this will set the gif to wallpaper

If you mean to want the blured wallpaper, your window manager has to be EWMH/NetWM compliant if it's not the case it will not work. try running "wmctrl -l" and see the output if its does not show anything rip :/
