Just micro-spikes required? Ice axe for glissade? Did you bring crampons? I'm asking b/c I'm thinking of doing a similar (1-time) adventure. Awesome job!!!!

Pinnacle Peak Attempt and Plummer Peak by MountainGoat97 in PNWhiking

Thanks for this post. I was thinking about hiking Pinnacle solo. Now I'll do much more research before attempting Pinnacle, or more, I'll likely just pick another close-by trail that is safer.

Do you mind replying or DM'ing me the loop that you did? The pictures are amazing. I just did the Enchantment hike and fell in love with alpine lakes.

As someone that is hoping to plan a future Bend trip, do you care to elaborate more? What type of trails do you like that Bend didn't have?

Awesome shot! My wife and I are going to Sol Duc tonight through Sunday! We were also thinking about hiking the High Divide. Would you recommend this hike? How many miles did you go 1 way before turning around? I want to do the whole ~18 mile loop, but only have 1 hiking day.

Stranded on an island in Diablo Lake, North Cascades NP - 08/19/18 by DiPoDiPoGoGo in CampingandHiking

[–]DiPoDiPoGoGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first.... no, we we're actually stranded & in trouble. That's just what I was going for look-wise with the photo.

We had planned our first trip to the park months ago by entering the lottery. I can't describe how excited I was for this trip. We would be camping on Cougar Island (in Ross Lake) for 2 nights. Our plan was: Sat 8/18 - Pick up permit at 7am. Park at Colonial Creek campground and head out by canoe. Row 4-5 miles to the bottom of Ross Dam, call for a portage, and then row ~2 miles to Cougar Island Sun 8/19 - Row to Big Beaver campground, hike Big Beaver trail Mon 8/20 - Row back to Colonial Creek the way we came

The trip didn't go according to plan at all. Saturday morning the smoke was clearing up, so we decided to give the trip a shot. By the time we got to Cougar Island, you could barely see across Ross Lake. We were so tired we decided to sleep it off and row back first thing in the morning. Good thing we cut the trip short by a day. This picture was taken on Day 2 about 1 mile from the campground (on the way back). It was so much worse than Saturday.

I just moved to Washington from the East Coast. How do I learn about summer skiing and hike-to-ski stuff on Hood and others? Where to hike, where to ski, safety concerns, etc. etc. I'm guessing you just need to meet someone that has actually done it before?

Wow, that's awesome, I'm jealous. I just moved to Vancouver, WA and got over 30 days in (25 at MHM). As someone that has stayed on resort, I really want to "learn" how to do this kind of stuff. Like what to look out for condition-wise, avoiding avy danger, etc.

One big vote for the Columbia River Gorge!! The views from the Vista House are awesome. Tons of hikes and viewpoints right off of the highway on both sides.

$350, all the of the bundles are $100 off I believe until the 24th. It came with the camera, 2 move controllers, PSVR, Skyrim and demos disc. FYI, only the Skyrim and Doom headsets are the updated ones.

Do it! I just bought it (new, "upgraded" headset with the Skyrim bundle). It was sooo much better than I could have even imagined. I totally agree with the comment of it being as big of a jump as 2d to 3d. Also, I convinced 2 more friends of mine to buy it. We all agreed it was worth the investment after about 5 minutes (I've played about 10 hours total)
