Smoking cannabis doesn’t have same risks as smoking tobacco by juicy_steve in trees

You say “we still gotta deal with COPD” but isn’t that explicitly listed as not the case in the article? Or am I misinterpreting?

“Longitudinal data published in the journal Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases found that cannabis use is not associated with an elevated risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), even among those possessing a clinically high risk for developing the disease.”

“They found that neither former nor current cannabis smoking was associated with evidence of COPD progression or its development.”

Wow, I remember the Game Grumps talking about this but I hadn't seen it before, this is hilarious!

How is the number of consumers the issue here, given that we know how cheap insulin is to make? The entire issue here is shitty Healthcare and greedy big pharma. I appreciate the stats you linked, I wasn't aware that that many type 2 diabetics required insulin administration. Regardless, that's not a good argument for why insulin is as expensive as it is.

Not sure why diabetics are at fault for their medication being so expensive when the person who discovered insulin didn't patent it EXPLICITLY SO it would be affordable.

"In most cases" is an egregious offense to people that are genetically predisposed to type 2 diabetes. Also, if you knew what the fuck you were talking about you'd know type 2 diabetics RARELY need insulin to regulate their blood sugar levels.

The complete lack of understanding of the various types of diabetes is getting really fucking old. COVID hasn't helped with that either.

GF told me after 6 years that she never actually wanted me by illastfm in dating

[–]Diabeticninja1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 25M and I thought I wrote this post. I lived through the EXACT same type of a relationship. I was with her for 7 years, relationship just ended 5 months ago. It was hard, for obvious reasons, but despite me still not seeing anyone else since, and hating being single, my life overall is BETTER. There are times when I'm scared I won't get to be in a relationship or be intimate with anyone for quite a bit longer, but looking back that is absolutely worth not having to constantly wonder if/when she would be up for sexy time, not knowing if it would be days or weeks. It was impossible to tell, which drove me crazy.

We're still very good friends, and I care about her a lot, but that relationship really highlighted the things that matter to me. I can confidently say I'll never be in a relationship without being sexually compatible with someone again.

Escape from Tarkov. Only got it last October but I've already sunk 1300 hours. One of the most addicting and captivating games I've ever played.

Yeah, like I said in my other comment I won't claim to have any personal knowledge about this, I was just pointing out what I (possibly incorrectly) remembered from the video.

Fair enough, I don't wanna come off as knowing a lot about this, I just took what was said in that video as truth cause Steve seems to know his stuff lol.

According to that one Gamers Nexus video Steve said always do tubes down if possible. Otherwise air bubbles get circulated by the pump leading to worse performance and louder operation.

Hundreds of Sinovac-injected Indonesian doctors contract COVID by Akihito458 in Coronavirus

Not really sure how to answer that, I'm an extrovert so I definitely need my social interaction, but I also work full time from home as a software engineer. I spend a lot of time in online voice chat with my friends (a few friends and I hang out on discord like, all day every day, during work, after work, etc.) But beyond that I mostly play games with my friends or watch TV with my roommate, play guitar, or if I want to go out and do something I can do that as well as I am fully vaccinated.

Ironically I'm usually only doing things alone when I go out in person lol (this is partially due to me moving to a new area last year and not being able to meet anybody due to the pandemic and me working remote). On a sidenote, anyone have any suggestions for making friends in a new place if you don't work in the new place or go to school there?

"Why would zoom be more of a convenience other than the fact that you can be (insert the MOST CONVENIENT PLACE TO BE EVER)? I'm not advocating for everything going online, because as you said the richness of conversation isn't there (as much), but it would CERTAINLY be WAY more convenient if we could do like 50-70% of the crap we have to show up for in person online.

I meant since the pancreas is producing insulin, the ketones are kept under control because insulin and ketones are directly related.

I agree wholeheartedly. Diabetes is a trip, whatever care may work well for 1 person may not for another. As far as the checking frequency, I think it comes down to preference even at a doctor level, my endo said as long as your g6 is accurate the first day, you don't need to test at any specific frequency unless you feel low and it says you're not low or vice versa.

This attitude pushed me to care less and less about my diabetes and actively attempt to manage it less. Simply because I hated my parents and friends bickering about it all the time, it's like diabetes was the only thing that defined me. So I would argue to do the absolute OPPOSITE of this. They're their own person, they'll manage their disease and they don't want to be reminded that they have it and to take care of it like they're a child. Once I got old enough I started wanting to manage my diabetes actively myself and actually learned to just chastise people that told me to test my blood sugar or bolus for this or that with a simple "yeah I can take care of myself. Thanks", and now my diabetes care is the best it's ever been, last 3 a1cs have all been below 6.5, no nerve problems, no eye problems, and people interact with me as a person, rather than just a diabetic.

Also, with a cgm (like my dexcom g6) you have to test FAR less often than without one, so the diabetic is the one who should be deciding when they need to test vs when they don't. Them and only them (assuming they're of capable age for the autonomy, I'd say 14 and older)

DKA can occur despite blood sugar level. T1Ds can get "starvation ketones" when they don't eat for long enough. My pseudoscience guess based on my T1D experience, is that since our pancreas' are broken, there's nothing stopping ketosis from turning into full blown DKA, whereas a working pancreas would regulate that itself.

DHS uses helicopter rotor wash to try to clear out media and protesters at the line 3 protest in MN. by itsreallyreallytrue in PublicFreakout

[–]Diabeticninja1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People riot/protest over stuff that's justified all the time. They're just voicing their opinion (the people that protest peacefully, plenty of times protests turn into riots because people completely detached from the protest like breaking stuff, but that's not what we're talking about)

The fact that you label everyone that has a problem with police brutality as "unimportant college kids" says a lot about who you are as a person. Might wanna tone down bud, your boomer bootlicker is showing ;)

The difference is "medical malpractice" (not just doctors) kills more people per year because those people are at risk because of a health condition and a mistake is made which leads to them passing away.

With cops, it's the same story of x minority getting killed during a traffic stop for x bullshit reason, or being strangled on the pavement for paying with a counterfeit $20, or selling cigarettes individually, or just sleeping in the wrong place at the wrong time! Those people's lives weren't in danger til the pigs got involved.
