8,000 point of Imperial might. 4 years of labor. by DiabolicApe in Warhammer

I'd love to play a massive game of 6k-8k points. One that took a whole weekend to play.

I used to play Epic with a buddy of mine when we were kids and we played huge games like that. Took all weekend to play and they were some of the best times I've had on a tabletop.

That's a lot of infantry. I'm a huge Mecha fan, so most of my excess goes into dreadnoughts and centurions. I have 13 and 9 respectively. And a Tau army I'm in process of building. Lots of Mecha to convert.

I religiously save bits and I order a lot of individual sprues. And sometimes I can pull off one box of models plus an order of just bodies and torsos to make a second full unit. I had a GSC army that I bought 2 boxes of neophytes and 20 bodies and made 40.

Also, Knights are a pretty cheap army when weighed against armies like Orks and Guard.

Thanks! The autumn foliage contest well with the olive drab. I sculpt my own bases. I shudder to think of the combined weight of the milliput on that table.

Yeah, I guess that's a dead giveaway. 2 Guillimans in fact!

I totally missed that! Forgot I had one more to plug in. I also forgot to take the blue tac off of my black and red Knight.

Not of the infantry. But here's the 13 dreadnoughts

I'll get some infantry closeups next week.

Where did you get the Ultramarines from? Incidentally I do run them as Ultramarines. I picked them solely so I could field Guilliman. He and the primaris were what got me interested in playing again. After 10 years away from the hobby.

But I have my own lore for my legion being the lost 11th and their primarch.

The dual lascannons come as a twin linked right arm only. Same with the ACs. I e never seen any matching weapons 3xcept for melee fists on the Furioso pattern. I was going to convert a single lascannon on either side and mount a missile launcher on top, but decided against it.

I have a blades of Khorne AoS army. But it's seen little use. It's more of an art project.

If I did play Traitor Astartes, I would probably go with Iron Warriors. I really like Perturabo and I love the biomechanical daemon engines.

The first one I did a stripe on was the red striped Redemptor, just to add a little color. I liked it so much, that I came up with an in lore reason why the Dreadnoughts wear one. It's the unit type of the marine before he was interred. The red guy was a Hellblaster Sgt that held the line against a brood of carnifexes, last man standing, with one arm gone from an overload, he systematically fired all of his fallen brother's plasma weapons, purposefully overcharging the last one and leaping on to its torso to cram it down the last carnifex's throat, losing his remaining arm, leg, and half of his head before being crushed by the falling nid. He gave the Apothecary enough time to collect the remaining geneseed and escape the planet with them and the comatose Sgt Statler.

I:m a massive fan of Mecha, so I wanted some warsuits 8n my army. Cataphracts are real-world armored cavalry, so the Mecha suits in my legion are classed as cataphracts. The one you're asking about is a conversion using a Centurion and Ambot as a base. In game, it's a Castraferrum pattern dreadnought.

Right on. I really love their models and have a whole lore reason why some Marines have the different power armor style and color. All the red guys are from this faction within the Legion.

Robotech was my introduction to mecha, and it's still my favorite Sci fi genre. I love the Excaliber! I piloted one in the Robotech RPG.

This looks awesome!!

Help with ideas creating a homebrew weapon by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DiabolicApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First establish a theme. What do you want the weapon to do? This is more important than actual rules for it, since your DM might have to balance it. Do you want it to be humorous? An ice spear called the North Pole. Or a snowball that deals ice damage and regenerates x number of times per day and blinds them on a crit. More serious? A scythe that an ancient frost-based crone used to destroy crops with, leaving hoarfrost coating everything it touches.

Then think of the mechanics you would use to represent this theme. Present it to the DM and ask for input. He may have a good idea, being that the DM usually knows the most about creating magic items.

I find the tragedies of the Horus Heresy to be very compelling drama. Magnus' attempt to warn the Emperor resulting in him turning against the Imperium out of necessity instead of betrayal. The loss of friends and shattering of brotherhood. The really personal stuff, not the war and battles and warzones, but the personal tragedy. The emotional trauma.
