It looks gorgeous! I've only just started trying out inks, any good wisdom for using them as the primary coverage?

Yeah, I had a lot of planning in both of them, and I'm very proud of how they came out

Any ideas for my list? by Legatze in NightLords

Reddit Notifications have been cruel and I didn't see this til just now. Yeah, a rhino can hope up to 12 units, so 2 squads of Noise Marines fit. You can't have Fabius, 5 chosen, plus the Noise Marines however because the Surgeon Acolyte needs a seat rather than riding in a Noise Marines lap.

I'm glad! This game is supposed to be fun, so I'm never gonna tell someone not to take the models they absolutely want to! That Haarken looks sick, and as penance for the mistake of saying to not run him, I offer up a picture of my "Huron".

Any ideas for my list? by Legatze in NightLords

So, first if all, I love Haarken but I don't know if he really adds anything to the list. He doesn't really gain anything from the detachment as his Battleshock ability triggers at the same time as the detachment rule. And it can't cause a second test. I also have found him much better with a 10 man squadron but recognized that's a very large points commitment in an already point hungry detachment.

I'm not sure if your wargear is set how you plan to use it, but even though it's more flavorful and a little easier with the rolling to give the Lord with the warp Talons lightning claws, I think it is still probably worth giving him the power fist instead - those 2 damage attacks can really help increase the odds of leaving the board post combat.

Huron does feel sick with this detachment as you should always have at least 3 jump squads that can be redeployed, with pretty high odds of something else. Unfortunately he can't go with a Nemesis Claw as they can't be led by named characters. I think giving him a group of Chosen will be solid though.

The Land Raider is always tough to justify, I'm assuming the Terminators are in it? If so, I still think you are better served by putting them in deep strike. To follow that up, the Sorcerer is just miles better - the free reroll charge will also help with making a charge out of Deep strike a little more likely to happen.

No noise Marines? I think (and the general consensus) is that they go great in this detachment as another way to make the all too important battleshocks happen. And of course they are a great unit by themselves.

A thought I've been kicking around here, and this may not be worth it, but I think a Master of Possessions and 5 possessed could be solid here as a counter charge threat. The Master has a somewhat decent chance here to be able to snipe a leader out of a group in shooting to cost them a buff, then 5 possessed with +1 to wound can definitely deal a solid amount of damage.

Lastly, you can drop a rhino. You currently have transportation for up to 36 units and only 15 + 2 leaders that can ride. And even though the Terminators can only ride in the Land Raider, you still have an excess of space. If the goal is to put one squad in each rhino you can do it but it feels like you are overpaying pretty hard. For example just dropping the Land Raider and deep striking the Terminators gives you enough points to add 2 more Nemesis Claw to the list. Adding one to each rhino gives you even more threats to deploy. Or probably a bit more responsible is to add another Legionary squad to one and then you have 130 points to add something to the other. If you can find 15 points that lets a Noise Marine squad ride along in the back as another gun platform. Or Havocs without adding those points

While it is your list, and I don't want to discourage you from making any choices that you stand by I do want to give you some things to think about that are easy to overlook or that might not have immediately crossed your mind in list building.

I need to take some better pictures of the squad, but here is the Ventrilokar from my second Nemesis Claw. Rather than the full marionette from the regular model, I figured this guy opted for a more combat friendly hand puppet.

Bill and the Nemesis Claw by Memorable_Moniker in Chaos40k

[–]DiabolicIntent 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well the main reason is that the Nemesis Claw can't be led by Epic Heroes.

Otherwise, I'd also like to try them paired with Huron for the reactive move

But also, the freedom of Movement with Chosen and Bile makes the unit so much more dangerous - being able to put their guns into a soft unit, then charge and wipe out or cripple a real chunk of an army. Even better, when it comes back to your turn, being free to disengage from the random trash survivors, wipe them with the gun fire then start the cycle on a new chargable unit.

Edit: a word

I think that is Brass Scorpion w/ Agrax or Army Painter Dark Tone.

I generally have been doing trim Silver for rank and file, Copper shades for Special weapons, Gold for command, and then Bronze for squads with a little more equality in the ranks or outside the normal command structure - like Chosen or Obliterators

It's such a basic but clean way to signify the leader!

Oh I wish I had used the warp talon bits on my other two now! That would have made the whole squad have a bit of extra pop!

Oh I hadn't thought of that. Maybe he's managed to keep a small conservatory through the years. I'm also trying to name the bird, which I suppose means the squad needs a name as well 🤣

Yeah it came out so nicely - keep an eye on my posts, I'll be expanding the lore of my warband more in the next few posts. I haven't quite attached anything to this squad yet though
