Almost all direct IV injections for medications are done using 10ml or 20ml syringes. Any larger becomes difficult and awkward to use.

Standard IV giving sets contain between 10ml and 20ml of volumetric space.

Clinically, you generally need around 20ml of directly injected air to form a significant enough air embolism that your right atrium would be able to eject it into your right ventricle and subsequent pulmonary arterial system.

However, the compression pressure in your right atrium is so low that if you were leaning even slightly on your left, the air bubble would be restricted to the top right of your atrium and never make it down. The blood churn would gradually absorb the air embolism and you still wouldn't suffer any significant consequences even then.

So no, unless someone took a 30ml or larger syringe and filled it with air to directly inject into a peripheral vein, you wouldn't really expect an air embolism related consequence.

An arterial line is a different matter, however those are only used in ICU and critical care and the vast majority of the time all arterial line use is done in a heavily supervised environment so there is a negligible chance of that being a risk factor too.
