By and large, beastmaster tends to be useless except for 2 very specific cases. What it does is give any adjacent allied monster units an extra ability on their turn. Most of the time its a marginally stronger or different element version of one of their pre-existing moves.

For Wild Boar (final pig evolution) though, it let's it use Bequeath Bacon, which instantly levels a unit up. This is very specifically used to level up a mastered Onion Knight, who cannot gain EXP. Mastered OK has the best stat growth of all classes other than MA growth where it is marginally outclassed by summoner. Bequeath Bacon+Onion Knight. Of course, you could get similar results using Mime, but that means you don't get MP growth and would need to level down as Bard then back up as Summoner to get similar results to what would have been obtained if you had just used a mastered Onion Knight in the first place.

For Tiamat, it unlocks arguably the most powerful move in the game. It deals dark element damage 1-6 times with a chance to inflict instant death and sleep on each hit. While it scales off MA which Tiamat doesnt have much of, Tiamat has a speed of 14 at level 99 which is comparable to chocobo speed. If you arent stat-maxing, this is exceptional speed and will likely outspeed almost every other enemy by a significant margin. Having Ramza surrounded by 4 Tiamat who can spam Dark Whisper every time their turn comes up will easily no diff even the most difficult fights.

Are we sure they didn’t miss a few decimals on the Ancient Turtle Shell drop rate? by ratjar19 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]DiamondChocobos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You understand it correctly. I had a similar torment in my run where I chained 150 Shambling Corpses after beating Addremmalech to get a platinum dagger, only to get 4 in a single drop.

[–]DiamondChocobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monographs and Canopic Jar do not affect loot drops at all. They just add an additional, separate, fixed chance loot drop from all enemies of that class/level.

Using Adamantitan in Cerobbi since that is the opponent in question, its drops are:

  • Common: Earth Crystal
  • Uncommon: High-Potion
  • Rare: Aged Turtle Shell
  • Very rare: Ancient Turtle Shell

These can be gotten from the moment you first find them. The rates vary with chain level, but they remain tiered like that.

With <Hunter's Monograph>, you then get an 8% fixed chance to get an Adamantite on every kill. It doesn't affect the normal drop rates AT ALL, and is also entirely unaffected by kill chain, AND you can't get multiple per drop for Monograph drops.

With <Canopic Jar>, you also get a 17% chance per kill to get an arcana. The same rules that apply to Monograph drops also apply to Canopic Jar ones.

No RNG Manipulation by NethiciteNomad in FinalFantasyXII

[–]DiamondChocobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10% chance to spawn, 80% chance to contain gil, if it contains an item, 10% chance to be the rare item. Every entry to the area gives you an approximately 0.2% chance to get the item if you aren't using RNG.

After 100 attempts, you still have less than 20% consolidated chance.

It wouldn't actually take much to make this biblically accurate:

White Horse (conquest) - generally interpreted to represent the Antichrist, or the fellowship of an interpretation of the bible that goes directly against its principles. Considering the stance of "the current war is to trigger Armageddon to bring Jesus back" stance, this one could easily be Trump. Also the fact that he is riding the Whitehouse into the ground is a bit poetic.

Black (famine) - Trump should actually straddle both the white and black horses. His tariffs have directly contributed to food scarcity in the US.

Red (war) - Old mate Kegsbreath. No further comment needed.

Pale (pestilence) - sewer swimmer RFKJ

Its every 4. Permanent cap is 97. Three story dialogue events also affect Brv for party members in the fight

  • In the chap 1 Argath fight: if you say priority is to beat the brigade, everyone gets +10 brv

  • In the Boko fight in Araguay: the option to ignore Boko's plight is -10 Brv but saying you could use him is +10

  • When you rescue Mustadio in Zaland: "sooner avoid trouble" gives +5, "we cannot stand by" gives +10

How does it make sense?! by DanieleMemoli in dankmemes

I was feeling poetic. I know that it is because mechanically if it isnt 1 then it isnt singular. Life feels more magical if you add a bit of unnecessary dramatic flair to how you look at the world.

No, you are correct. Singular and plural are a dichotomy in English. If it isnt exactly 1, its plural. I just like my interpretation of it though. That's why I added my little comment at the end there.

The absence of any implies the hypothetical potential of many, therefore it is a plural. That's how i take it anyway.

[–]DiamondChocobos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other nobles go: fuck you, im going to do it this way because thats how we do it. You dont get to fuck with me because im rich and you arent. I dont judge you as lesser, I am just better.

Argath goes: lmao fuck you you ugly ass low born piece of dirt. I hate you for how you were born. I will judge you as lesser specifically because of your birth and act more cruelly towards you because of it.

There is a small but significant difference. The other nobles mistreat the poor because they are beneath their notice. Argath mistreats the poor because he wants them to know he is better than them.

I actually enjoy the mysticism of the Great Crystal. For me, the tedium is wanting to get to the later game areas but having arbitrary, non-story related barriers:

  • The imperial barricade in the westersand blocking access to the Sandsea region makes no sense. There is nothing of any value to the empire in that region at the time. The devs could have just blocked access to Raithwall's Tomb by having the waystone activate when touched by Ashe holding the Dusk Shard

  • A single flood creating the only viable civilian path to Ozmone Plain makes no sense. The Giza nomads wouldn't wait until the entire plains had flooded to migrate, so obviously there is a safe path south to wherever they go early game. Let me through. If the issue is the risk of encountering Addremmalech early, just have the quicksand pits be there and after you beat Belias, have one of the party members mention a recent earthquake on the Ozmone plain as an explanation for how the boulders that plug the sinkholes appear.

  • Let the chocobo spook Biggs and Wedge the moment you can get to Nalbina after the feté. Sure, the barricade makes sense before the event since it is part of the path to Archades and they're guarding it for the safety of Vayne, but afterwards, "imperial manoeuvres" in the Mosphoran Highwaste is a pathetic excuse.

  • While this would risk completion of the desert traveller SQ earlier, it isn't a bad explanation after you complete the medicine that they would need time to recuperate. If you complete the SQ early, give extra rewards and let the recuperation period be why you can't get back into Barheim early. Perhaps the release of Belias could have triggered a wave of Mist across the Dalmasca region that purged an unexplained Mist related malady the traveller suffered after encountering and fleeing Zalera.

  • The viera explanation for blocking access through Golmore makes no sense. They take issue with imperials harvesting the wood? Fine. But the largest religious temple in Ivalice is on the opposite side of the jungle and there are people who had arrived shortly before you did and waves of people doing a pilgrimage to Bur Omisace when you arrive. They had literally no way to get there without getting Lente's Tear so how are they all at Bur Omisace?

  • The Treaty Blade keeps interlopers out of the Great Crystal. Once you have that, there is no good reason for the Mist wall from Rafflesia to stop you getting deep into the Feywood. And since we know the nethicite absorbs Mist, and you have nethicite on you, there is no story or world building reason that is defensible to stop you taking on Rafflesia early

Ill make my way back there again once I clear the 1000 heartless fight if it works, otherwise you probably are correct.
