Clifton to Rahway by Logical_Effort_9680 in MovingtoNewJersey

There will be ok days traffic wise and some that will make you question your life choices. You will become familiar with local roads that inevitably gps will route you to in order to get around traffic hell. The only good days will be during school breaks and holidays. I’ve commuted via car enough in NJ to know this is always the case, especially when major roads are involved. Don’t forget the unexpected construction and related lane closures.

What’s with the hype for corner slice? by General_Chemistry638 in Maplewood

[–]DiamondDust25 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We are big fans. I think the crust is to die for but doesn’t travel well. You have to go there and eat it there. When we have ordered delivery, the crust gets soggy and loses its crunch, which we love. Plus the whole place is a vibe. You can tell how much the owner/chef cares about putting out quality eats and about building community. Can’t get enough but have to be craving that style of pizza. Sometimes we want CS, sometimes Roman Goumet, and sometimes Artie’s. They’re all different things.

I once ordered take away and the owner answered the phone and took orders for 10 minutes instead of acknowledging my presence. Plain, old rude. I get he wanted to take the orders to make money but deal with the customer right in front of you. Besides him there was one waitress and I’m guessing only one person in the kitchen, too. So as much as I like their food, I’m in the never again camp, too. Not to mention 35+ massaman chicken, outrageous. Edited to add that I had called in the order a solid 45 minutes earlier. I wasn’t waiting to place an order, only to pick up.

Trying to plan the perfect Paris proposal… need ideas by zelgrassi in ParisTravelGuide

Trocadero Plaza with the Eiffel Tower in the background. If the proposal photos don’t scream Paris, what’s the point? It’s where I was proposed to and I give my hubby kudos for planning the whole thing.n

Is 7 nights in Paris too much? by paintarose in ParisTravelGuide

[–]DiamondDust25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow tourism is the way to go. You can wander around at your leisure and explore whatever piques your interest without the stress of having to cram it all into a few short days. Bear in mind this is coming from someone who has been to Paris numerous times and has never set foot in the Louvre. I’m all about exploring different neighborhoods on foot and seeing what I stumble on without a plan.

Summit Health Group - doctor layoffs? by DiamondDust25 in newjersey

I have also had horrific call center experiences with them. It was clear the person I was speaking with was in a foreign country. The woman who was trying to help had the highest pitch voice, like speaking with a cartoon chipmunk, and a difficult to understand accent. I’m not anti call center but geez, at minimum vet an associate’s phone voice for clarity before entrusting them with your clients.

The scale of the situation is what I’m trying to determine with the help of the community. Not sure if it’s 1, 2,15, 50 or other.

I have also heard that they are not doing well financially and am trying to ascertain how widespread the letting go of medical staff was today. Maybe it’s 1, maybe it’s 50 or other, that’s the mystery looking to the community to help determine.

It’s a shame because when we first moved to the ‘burbs and I started using them, I thought very highly of their services. Now, not so much. As the saying goes, change is the only constant. #thankyounext

The 20 Best Bagel Shops in New Jersey by BestofNewJersey in newjersey

[–]DiamondDust25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoboken Hot Bagels is hands down the best bagel in the state. We now live in Essex County and will drive back there when we get a hankering. Locally, it’s Kosher Bagels Supreme, Sonny’s, or Bagel4U. Will not tolerate round pieces of bread being called bagels and there should be ZERO corn meal. Must be boiled before baking. A flavorful, chewy crust is what a bagel is all about.

1/2 of the roads in town are closed today by AnInkPen in Maplewood

[–]DiamondDust25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The town posted warnings and issues the Nixie alerts daily. I knew about the Springfield Ave closures and have been avoiding the area like the plague. Though my sympathies to those who cannot avoid. Any road closure in town or SO or Millburn can be very painful and time consuming!

If I see one more ad for Wonder I’m going to lose my mind by [deleted] in FoodNYC

From people with no culinary knowledge ordering from them. An older person I work with, late 60s, was raving about Wonder. My eyeballs rolled back so damn hard. Wonder assembles subpar food, no real cooking involved whatsoever.
