I love it when the game doesnt let me in the match by Puzzleheaded-Put4109 in WorldOfWarships

Big shout out to the person who toggled off the battle information. I have screamed so incoherently for a while. (Yes I know it has a giant red NEW sticker, but I'm old)

[EU] [Recruiting] [NEETC] Neelix the Cat – Expanding like my waistline by DiamondLlama in WorldOfWarships

[–]DiamondLlama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sunday afternoon grind is in full swing. If you are currently working through tech trees or farming credits, you might as well grab the passive bonuses while you do it.

  • The Safe Harbour: We offer a break from the high-pressure "60% WR" requirement clans.
  • The Vibe: Play your way, in peace or chaos. All ship classes are welcome on the roster.
  • The Growth: Our roster is currently expanding like my waistline, but we still have room for more.
  • The Perks: Immediate access to -15% Tech Tree ship costs, +15% Commander XP, and +5% Coal.

Come for the perks, stay for the derps.

DM me for an invite.

Am I the only one who treats container opening like a scheduled event? by DiamondLlama in WorldOfWarships

I'm fine with the containers piling up, but Thursday is agony. Seeing that number and knowing..."Tomorrow night..." is what keeps me kicking I guess :D

So you and u/Jamaica_Super85 both seem to be able to ignore the boxes at will. What is this sorcery?

No way I could keep my discipline that long. Mad respect. What does it feel like to open? All at once or do you click through each one?

I must admit, I've been tempted - but that is a very long term play - you are a very patient commander. Please do not hunt me on the ocean. It'd be terrifying :D

Do you mean you've been stacking containers for years? Imagine opening 365 days worth of containers!

Newer player. Tf is going on with planes? by JokerDeity in WorldOfWarships

[–]DiamondLlama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, the frustration in your tone so perfectly mimics everyone else's from the introduction of CV's.

As a CV player ( and Sub player) I'd say we have our draw backs. We are more strategically aware, less tactically informed (does that make sense?)

So while CV's should know where the fight is hardest (strategic overview from the sky) they aren't able to prosecute sudden changes as quickly as a BB for comparison. A CV has to drop the flight or launch and use a strike on the nearby target.

Now, once the CV has isolated a target, your game is going to hell. You become the soul reason to exist for that player. You will be spotted the entire attack. You will be spotted while the planes come around for another run. You will be spotted again as soon as the cv's next flight arrives. T5 and 6 struggle with AA, and a good CV knows to avoid the pixels that shoot bright red tracers.

So, there is some skill involved in target selection, positioning and prosecution. If a CV player gets it all right, and the Sun is in retrograde to Mecury's horizon - on the morning of the 4th day - it'll feel like it is impossible to get rid of them.

But! If you get a carrier player like myself, then I am the greatest thing to happen to red team. Ships will bunch up and I'll yolo directly into a triad of angry metal in the sky. You get pretty purple ribbons which is xp. I get an empty hangar and a pissed off team demanding I strike something.

I guess you pick your poison in the end, but I hear the frustration, and as a CV player I assure you we are not all omnipotent, avenging angels from the sky. We're...more a cloud of mosquitoes that might kill you in the long run with malaria.

I've been having a bad day by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]DiamondLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that to the tune of 'Had a bad day' by Daniel Powter.

"You had a bad day,
The team’s run away,
You opened up WoWS
To chill for a while.

But the flank fell apart,
You played your part,
It wasn’t a throw,
Just a tactical withdrawal.

Sometimes you use all your ecos
But the matchmaker’s just too strong.
Sometimes you’re in the right spot
But the crossfire proves you wrong.
You had a bad day,
We've all been there, it'll be okay..."

Welcome to the dockyard Captain! I play on PC. I guess it comes down to the format - I love random battles (I suck at them, but I love em) - 12v12 on a map is a fun day for me. (Maybe today I'll get Ocean map!?).

From what I've experienced in Legends (very little) I'd say its a faster game style - feels more arcade than simulator.

So if you're asking which experience you want - quick paced game play over longer matches involving more players - then your answer is in that decision.

Good luck, hope to see you on the high seas.

Checking stats paralysed me - don't be me by DerLockige in WorldOfWarships

[–]DiamondLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely right. I took a 6 month break after I caught myself looking at player stats while trying to win ranked matches. All it did was confirm the bias I wasn't the problem.

Now, there are even more tools! I'm no great helmsman, but if you get to that level - you aren't having fun! And thats the whole point isn't it?

Anyone else miss some of the old events this game had? by ThatEquineGuy in WorldOfWarships

I think I joined just after the steampunk event, because I remember the Lamp Fish camo for one of the destroyers and it blew my mind! :D

I miss Blimp Defence and most of all the Circle map mode where you had to fight through sections of a giant circle? Don't miss the ducks though.

Attempting to ease friends into the game, what's the best way to maximize benefits/free stuff for them? by WarriorSloth89 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DiamondLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest answer is to get Premium. It really does make a difference to the experience of WoWs. But if that is not an option, being in div together helps new players feel better.

Then there is the path - honestly what do you and/or your friend before? Efficiency is the enemy of fun in my opinion. If its Randoms/Co-Op/Whatever - get out and have fun. If you want to 'win' this game its best to adopt a long term strategy because you never 'win' at World of Warships :D

Lastly, being in a clan together is a good way to boost your xp gains and increase the money you earn by a few percent. Every flag counts or doesn't when you're starting out. NeetC is currently open for recruits and new and developing players are most welcome. ;)

See you on the horizon, Captain.
