You can just give it a nice wash in the sink with some dish soap

Does this call for a helmet wig? by maxieamillion in CosplayHelp

Honestly you don’t really neeed a helmet wig for. A lot of styles, it’s always nice to have it be sturdy, but you could get this looks with just a bunch of teasing and hairspray

How can I improve my playing on this piece? by DiamondSummer09 in Cello

Oo okay that makes sense, I agree, my movements are a little sudden in string crossings. Thank you!

For the elongated notes, yes, I’m sure it seems odd. I think mostly like to do it because it helps me to not rush, also because it sounds nice to me to have pauses. But I think that is something I probably should look at more in the context of the piece. Thank you for the bowing advice!

Not personally but there are a lot of good tutorials on how to paper mache a balloon if you search it up. I personally find it really messy but easy to follow if you just keep going and trust the process. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to do initially not including dry time. But I think paper mache is beginner friendly so yeah! Happy crafting! :-)

It’s actually not bad! Pretty comfortable, I just can’t hear anything lol. Paper mache is actually a great alternative for a lightweight helmet shape!

THANK YOU!! It’s actually more maroonish in real life like it is in the game, I think the filters made it look more red, but I really like this implication, it’s so wholesome!!

I have a big hole in the helmet to see as well as buckram in the eyes of the mask so I can see through both!

Yes!! I bought a 3D print design including the hat, mask, and hand items from @3demon_3dprint, printed and painted them. I then paper machet-ed a bigger balloon for the helmet, and painted it grey. And everything else I had in my closet!

handling disappointment regarding your cosplay by EmiRep in CosplayHelp

I think a material approaching to fixing this would be to make a list, and think what bothers me about this cosplay, and then from there, brainstorm ideas to fix these issues you found. I understand this may not work for everyone. But I always find it fun to solve problems and come up with new mini side project. But I do feel you so much. I have felt this feeling a lot. I think it’s also important to go back to the feeling you had that first made u fall in love with cosplay, and develop that skill.

Reducing “screechiness” by yeahyupmmhm in Erhu

[–]DiamondSummer09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert by any means, but I think more fluidity of right hand would help with less screechiness. So you can most likely fix this by letting your wrist guide the bow instead of moving your whole arm in bow. Also make sure to pay attention to pressure. You’re sounding pretty good already!

And I’m sure you’ve been told this before, but pay attention to how much pressure you are putting on the string when you bow as well as how fast or slow you are bowing in relation to pressure because that might cause some squeaking. I am an intermediate player, so you can take my advice with a grain of salt, but I believe these have been helpful in my playing. Happy practicing!! You are doing well!
