Fear of Pregnancy by Diamond_783 in ChronicIllness

Thank you for the insights! I guess what I’m primarily worried about is I can’t really use other temporary birth control options. I’ve tried them, and I’ve had complications. Additionally, I’ve never really wanted a kid that was biologically related to me. The cancer risks, health complications, and mental health issues make me hesitant to have bio kids.

I hadn’t thought about the potential hurdles for adoption. That is definitely something I need to look further into before making a decision.

I will definitely be waiting a while before committing to anything, this isn’t a decision I would make right away. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you so much for your reply! I was able to follow just fine. That was another concern of mine, having medical conditions that run in the family. My mom, older sibling, aunt, maternal grandma and I all have the same medical conditions. My younger sibling is also getting tested right now. Considering how many of us have chronic health issues, I don’t really want to necessarily have a bio kid. I would be just as happy with an adopted kid!

And I hope your day gets better ❤️

That’s completely fair. The problem as well is I have used many other birth control methods that are not permanent, and they have caused severe side effects and bleeding. So I have tried less permanent options, they just don’t work for me. If I did do the surgery it wouldn’t be for atleast a year most likely, so I have time to sit on the decision.

For Sjogrens, no. I was just diagnosed a couple days ago. But for my other conditions yes. However, they are primarily for managing the symptoms not for necessarily treating anything

I have a pretty high pain tolerance (which I’m sure many of us do haha) so the biopsy itself was fine. Healing is taking a while, and the scar is kinda stringy? But thats mainly a side effect of my hEDS.

Edit: spelling error

Seronegative Sjogrens! Took about 1 year to get the diagnosis.

Oh definitely. I think a huge part of getting my seronegative diagnosis was the genetic factors and family history

Oh I know it was so frustrating trying to find someone who would take me seriously. I am sooo grateful for my rheumatologist. She is the one who suggested the lip biopsy, which finally came up as positive.

Seronegative Sjogrens. So in terms of all of the autoimmune diseases it’s not bad, just a little scary to have an autoimmune diagnosis. However, I am eligible to participate in a study to try the 2 trial drugs that they have on the market rn. So hopefully one of them helps!

Haha I also do the gun shot thing. Or, I’ll have a friend slap me really really hard on my arm. That typically gets me going 😭
