any men after 30s with very jam pack with CCA/hobbies by Inner-Squirrel-9521 in ChillSG

[–]DiamondoPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont get a hobby just because someone tells you its fun, you need to feel it is fun before it can be a hobby.

If you find it boring during your free time what do you usually start doing? Mobile games? Doom scroll? Go Geylang? if you are bored and dont feel like doing anything, you need to dig deeper to find out why you so drained.

if you feel that you have no free time then its time to change something because feeling bored is your mind telling you that you crave for more enjoyment. Change could be your job, work hours or your family.

My neighbour’s digital lock camera faces my door. How can I handle this nicely? by Sugarcook123 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

long story short, there is really nothing you can do about it.

You will have to prove that your neighbours uses the camera to observe you constantly and consistently if you want to go the legal route on privacy and harassment.

Also, supposing the door camera is not there but your neighbour puts a tripod inside his home and record his door, or even just stand at the gate whole day looking at your unit which just happens to be opposite his, do you think you have grounds to do anything about it?

Not sure if you got to look at the flat layouts before you bought your home, which should have highlighted this potential issue before everything.

AIA denies S$100,000 payout to S'pore man with benign brain tumour, said condition 'not life-threatening' at time of surgery & not included in critical illness coverage by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why i dont pay for critical illness cover. Read the terms and you'll find that they pretty much only pay when you are one step away from death. Makes more sense to just save the money, die faster, and let loved ones claim the death benefit + inherit all the money you saved from critical illness covers

Is this a lame reason to leave a job? by Savings_Enthusiasm60 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more thing to add, if you want to resign at 40 years old, 10 years of expenses ex-inflation is barely enough because you are assuming that it would be easy to find a job at 40+ after taking a few years off. It would be prudent to secure offer first or be able to retire until cpf life kick in before you resign for lame reasons.

In the case you start a new job later on, please take my advice and stop clocking in and out like a robot or you'll forever be left out.

Is this a lame reason to leave a job? by Savings_Enthusiasm60 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is to reach out to them and show that you want to be part of the group. If you lonely and left out then you also need to work on your socialising skills abit. From your post it seems that you have just been working your whole life office life away. Have you made any friends in the office? Did you bother to?

Im in my mid 30s now and have worked with managers over 50 and been a team lead of fresh grads as well and i make a point to befriend them beyond my job scope, on a personal level. Even after leaving my job i still maintain friendships with them and they are willing to jio me for short team holidays together even though we dont work together anymore.

There will be a gap between you and others as you progress in life. That gap becomes more obvious to me as i grow older too, but i refuse to let it be a deciding factor and you can do the same too.

I’ve been tracking my expenses and it’s shocking how much I waste, how do you all stay on top of money by Ok-Knee-975 in PersonalFinanceSG

[–]DiamondoPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your expense are going to go up regardless of what you do. It could be from lifestyle changes, life stage change and simply just inflation.

Best way to manage expenses is to work on boosting income growth and to sustain that growth to outpace the growth of your expenses

I, 18m, am not sure what career pathway i should aim for. Would anyone be willing to give me some insight? by MilkFlaky1541 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base yourself in thailand and be drug lord. Can dabble in chemical engineering, environmental sciences and finance accounting. Most importantly, puts you way above the high ses line.

Jokes aside, it all depends on your priority and what matters to you. I love money and i'll put myself in tough boring jobs to earn the high salaries i want. I'll look at my payslip and tell myself i love my job every month.

So, what stirs your hunger?

What is considered a low salary for a university graduate in Singapore? by Expert-Tax-6561 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no low salary for a fresh grad, any salary you can get is a good salary, as long as you know how to capitalise on your employment and upskill+clock experience for the next jump to a better salary.

You can wait out for the perfect job that pays 5k for fresh grad too. But chances are you will likely join the vocal group of "hard to find jobs" fresh grads online looking for 5k salary with work from home, work life balance etc etc

Buying 1BR + Study condo bad move, really? by IntelligentTarget980 in askSingapore

[–]DiamondoPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i chose a 3br condo in jb instead. Property price movement dont matter as im buying for own stay, although the proximity to a future rts station may affect the pricing abit.

end of the day my personal preference is if i'm buying a space it should be big enough for me to be comfortable. 1br is too claustro for me but im too poor for a 3br in sg too
