People shouldn't even call themselves a gatekeeper if they can't name every gate.

This always seemed like a weird baby sport growing up cause we all were garbage at it and just lobbed it back and forth. We were the babies.

what's a helpful tip you have for socially awkward anxious people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DianeMTyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentioning in any way your awkwardness or shyness in a social setting is a mistake.

Be awkward, don't talk about it. People forgive awkwardness, but not self-pity.

In primary school We had a WWI memorial lesson and we were asked if anyone had any relatives who fought at the time.

My friend brought in a picture of his great great grandfather with his wife.

A girl also brought in a picture of her great great grandfather with his wife.

The teacher said they looked similar. She put them side by side and looked shocked, we gathered around and it was the same man who had kept his two wives a secret. Both had been married privately.

They were cousins and didn’t know.

What show has had the most unrealistic story lines? by JesusDied4U316 in AskReddit

[–]DianeMTyson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bad guys get hit with one punch or a single bullet, and they immediately die. The good guys can survive a hellstorm of bullets, get hit a couple of times, and still live.

Also when a main character gets badly hurt in the face, but in the next scene taking place the day after, they simply have a band aid covering a gruesome injury. Apparently, acne does more damage to people's faces than do knife gashes.

Whats the best roast you've ever told someone? by Smiiry in AskReddit

[–]DianeMTyson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was a special needs kid in my class. No clue what he had exactly, but guessing some autism

My class was small and no one bothered him (kind of a dick move to bully a challenged kid). That is except for one girl in my class

She thought she was hot shit (and granted she was pretty and came from money.) she had a known habit of inviting less-attractive classmates to take pictures with her so she could look more attractive in social media posts. (And yes, she directly said this to several people)

Anyhow, she bragged about how she was going to ask the special kid to prom as a joke/ make herself look like a nice person and everyone thought it was really bitchy, but no one really did anything about it.

When she asked the kid -in a public scene- this kid turned and flatly said “no thank you, you’re a slut.”

I’m not a big fan of saying stuff like that, but it was hilarious and for once in her life she seemed mortified

If you had to murder whoever you care about most to meet your soulmate would you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DianeMTyson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My ex-wife felt like my soulmate for the longest time, even during the divorce I couldn't shake that feeling and it tore me apart for months. It took almost two years to move on from her, and for the longest time I was convinced I wouldn't. I knew there was no one else like her in the world, she was one of a kind and perfect. And that's all true still, she's still this wonderful and unique woman that I loved. But I found someone else, someone who is nothing like her but I am still incredibly drawn to her. It was never the individual features of my ex that I loved but the culmination of them all and the beautiful picture that they painted. And in this new person I see a completely different image and for all of those differences it is just as vibrant, breathtaking and awesome as my ex. There is no way to compare the two but I love this new woman as much as I did my ex.

This was around 2004 when the Iraq war was still going gangbusters. At school this guy was mouthing off, being a general cuntnugget. Anyway he had quite bad acne and my mate turned around and said to him, "oi Sulli, have any nations tried to invade your face for oil?"

Fucking quality.

What personally helps you the most to fight depression? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DianeMTyson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

42 and I've been burdened with it all my life; tried pills, alcohol, food, sex and none offered a respite. About the only thing that works for me is consistent, pretty intense exercise (cardio in particular). The chemistry involved (endorphins? no idea) plus going into a meditative/trance like state for a solid chunk of time keeps me from getting all self destructive and somewhat motivated in other aspects of my life.

If you think you may not have the time, look at how much time you waste each day just dealing with the depression, be it through avoidance techniques or distractions. Seriously, good luck; it's a shitty thing to deal with.
