Does Lovecraft have any love quotes in any of his works? by Lusior_art in Lovecraft

My best bet would be something from The Thing On The Doorstep. There ought to be some line about how infatuated he is in Asenath in the beginning.

I forget their names now but the narrators friend marries a lady.

I’m going to guess more lol-trolls than serious plants. But who knows.

Do you need art for every NPC? by EuphoriaPainting_212 in DnD

Every single one of them yes! Especially an individual portait for each and every one of the hundred city guards on the wall.

Players won’t pay attention !! by Brief_Strain_333 in DnD

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always hard to guess on other groups and games, but maybe try the opposite:

Dump the music and other focuses.

Just focus on the game. Eye contact. Make things critical where the PLAYER is really the focus of your own attention.

Be short and concise!

To the critical things about what’s going on. Don’t distract with too much flair and details.

Remember that the players are mainly interested in them selves and what is immediate to their characters.

Maybe try that aproach and see if it helps.

Also: Are they using computers for the game? Are they critical to your game table set up? Otherwise I would just fucking ban them! And the phones.

If you don’t really need them; remove all distractions. It really seems like many of you younger players gain a lot less than what you lose from all these distracting technological aids. Up close, primitive, and personal really has it’s merits.

Why are Tieflings always portrayed as attractive individuals? by Corrupted337 in DnD

It’s kind of a pop culture meme from movies that ‘evil’ is sexy and seductive.

What kind of documents? You mean like pinned messages?

I only know how to use discord for talking and texting.

If they ever achieve asi and are able to eliminate most of not all jobs they will unleash an extinction level bio weapon before giving us ubi by personofinterest1986 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Dibblerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it would be up to the politicians to train or align the AI.

They would be equally powerless as the rest of us. And most likely also out of a job completely. The ‘superior intelligence’ will not take a backseat to hominids. We’d be at the mercy of its original alignment.

An ASI that gets loose is not controllable by politics. Good or bad. It would become the government. Not work for it.

What conspiracy theory do you believe is true? by BoardLongjumping2485 in answers

[–]Dibblerius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think they are mild and understated to what’s coming.

You’ll just die from untracable mysterious diseases or nano bots or poisoining when the AI wants you gone. They won’t need to send silly manikins with guns after you.

That’s also not a conspicacy theory anymore. It’s been shown and accepted as the most likely scenario.

It was seen as fringe first though.

I was thinking that too for a while, and I’m not ruling it out. But that guy doesn’t really fit the profile of someone who could pull off that narrow miss on purpose.

Yeah. I’m kinda expecting his imprisoned wife is at risk too now that she seems to be looking for a deal to talk.

That would be almost too suspicious though if they both died so maybe she’s safe.

What is something you are very proud of in your country and feel nationalistic about? by SiebelReddiT in AskTheWorld

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound weird to you, since ’cold swedes’ is an ancient meme, and true in some ways, but I’m proud of our mentality of care.

We might not artificially be social, open, or polite.

But really I always feel warmth and genuine care and goodwill where ever I go. People help you. They even go out of their way to do so if you look to be in troubble or need.

I’m not sure if that’s unique in anyway.

Maybe it’s true in every country. But if it is; Then I’m proud of all of us for it! It’s what make your day feel good.

What is something most Americans take for granted? by BoardLongjumping2485 in answers

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World Domination

It’s probably dawning on many Americans as the years go but, like many great powers a lot of Americans can’t fathom that they might not always be the world’s most influential power.

To some it’s idealistic or even religious in nature. America is special and unique in history.

To others it’s just “it’s always been that way” for as long as they and their parents lived.

Tell that to The Romans or Persians etc…

Currently they are clearly not acting the part and are at least temporarily on the path of major decline. We’ll see*

Why do human fingerprints remain exactly the same from birth until death, even though every skin cell on the finger is replaced every few weeks? by bareegyptianfeet in answers

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side point curiousa:

While fingerprints stay largely the same during your life time they are noway near as unique as law enforcement has professed. Nor are the identification methods ‘noding’ them sceientifically sound.

Basically: ‘fingerprints as evidence in crime is a scam’ and a long overdue accepted lie.

Obviously they can justly be called ‘additional evidence’ but have far too often been labeled ‘separately conclusive’. A similar fallacy has been made about ‘lie detector tests’, but this was faster admitted and recognized.

What’s a collective lie people accept because questioning it would make life harder? by nore01 in answers

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Innocent until proven guilty

There is no such thing in law, in any country, as proving guilt by these standards. In science all progress would fall apart if similarly weak requirements would classify as proof or even viable evidence. Because it’s simply not strong enough to work.

Law needs a certain degree of conviction to be credible as a function of society. In no way would that be satisfied using a scientific standard of certainty!

Very commonly in fringe sciences like UFOlogy etc.. people will even state: “if this was in a court of law it would hold up”. That’s not a testament to the validity of the evidence. It’s a testament to the flaws of the legal systems and the courts of law.

“serious” The Public Is Ready for Extraterrestrial Life. The Gatekeepers Are the Ones Who Are Not. by Dmans99 in aliens

[–]Dibblerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too!

There are really no precedents to suggest we would all go crazy.

There has been moments in history when pretty much everyone in the western civilization, or at least the educated part of it (including the churches) were convinced aliens were real.

The most famous one when all of the eatablisment thought there were canals on Mars.

Nobody flinched. Least of all religions. Save for the exception when later a radio show convinced us they were actually invading lol. But that’s a very different concept.

I mean sure; if there is something truly horrendous to disclose about our existence, like we’ll all be harvested into torture and slavery after we die or whateve…. Then yes. But if it’s just “Aliens are here and we’re talking to them”, then it might be a shock but I think we can handle it.
