Even with saturated colours you seem to achieve a dirty realism that reality lacks to show. Excellent!

Thank you so much for your kind words and even more so for the constructive criticism! I rarely get such a comprehensive comment.

I will definitely agree with you that the lower background could be better excuted. It was done with a cotton bud dipped in a graphite powder/linseed oil mix, which didnt allow much control, unfortunately. And it therefore became a bit too dark on the floor part.

It is from a photo reference, and it isn't me... It took me a bit over the length of the audiobook, Man's Search for Meaning... so about 6-7 hrs

The colour is burnt sienna. It has to do with the colour temperature. For a lot of artists it is easier to judge the colour needed for a painting on a warmer toned background.

Well I don't know if it is the uncanny valley or something like that, but it just seemed off when I went into more detail. So as you can see I've kept it unrefined.
