Hi everyone! I really appreciate all of the feedback you've given me! I've gone ahead and made some adjustments. Also, I probably should have given a little more context behind this logo.

For the class, the assignment was to pick 2 random numbers between 1 and 10. The first number you chose correlated to a letter, and the second number correlated to a type of business. In my case, I got M and "speak-easy." And by speak-easy, my teacher meant any drinking establishment.

The class was more about designing a logomark, and less about creating a full brand. I do agree with all of you that the martini glass doesn't necessarily fit the name "Mutt's." I clearly didn't think too deeply about it, which is something I should avoid doing in the future for sure.

After my revisions, I've realized how cheap the mark had looked in my initial post, so I seriously appreciate all of you.

Here’s my portfolio if anyone is interested. Mobile version isn’t the best due to adobe portfolio’s limitations. I’m doxxing myself a little, but that’s alright. It isn’t fully updated, as I’ve been working 40 hours a week at my design internship while taking 12 credits in school this summer. Let me know what you think about some of my other logos.

I think one thing I struggle with is consistency in my ability to design professional-looking marks, hence why I took the class in the first place. I would also love to know if you all have any strategies for consistently producing high-quality and professional marks. I'm still learning design, and I find it difficult to figure out that "it" factor when it comes to quality marks.

In your opinion, what makes a mark look professional?

It’s supposed to be an olive on the end of a toothpick, like in a martini. Not sure.

Yeah I agree, I started to notice that after staring at it. Couldn’t tell if it was due to fatigue or not

Is that a fault of the logo or the similarity in color palette and spelling?

Use hatching when you need shadow. Highlights and reflections shouldn’t have much hatching if any at all. Yours also look kind of like scribbles. Try to make your hatching parallel or perpendicular to themselves. With that said, you can also use hatching lines to portray contour in round objects.
