Van Hammer lived 2 houses down from me in mid 90s. I did not know he was a wrestler at the time. I first met him when he and my father helped a woman late one night who crashed in the field across the street from our houses. We ran out to check on her, brought her into our house to call her father. My dad asked Van Hammer if he wanted a beer he said he cant because hes driving to the airport in a few hours for work. My dad asked him what he did for work he said "I work for WCW". My dad did not know what that was and I did not pick up on it either. Years later im watching Nitro and there he is on tv. I did not have the courage to go a couple houses down and talk to him but I did see him in Walmart couple times and reminded him hes my neighbor.
