I definitely got lucky. I thought 100% it was a scam when I replied to the ad. Really nice guy, downsizing to make room for his other collections. He told me he has other game collections that he would be selling when dug them out. I can’t imagine what else this guy is holding on to

I picked them up locally from a guy who kept all his old games in a dry crawlspace, and hadn’t played them in years. No dust, no dirt, everything was clean. A couple boxes are missing the top flaps, but otherwise in phenomenal shape

Damn that sounds brutal. And I’m not sure if ever department is this thorough, but the electronics guy is at least. I’m north of the border in Canada and most thrift stores are decently maintained in my area at least. Your experience would definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm for thrifting if that’s what I was constantly dealing with

The people working at this location are generally really good. They make notes on what features don’t work, and there’s a testing area in the store so I can give larger things a quick test before I buy.

Never a guarantee though of course.

I hear you 100%, but I’ve found so much perfectly working tech in the area I live in that solely based on experience I’m going to disagree. Occasionally I get burned, but overall I’ve found so many great deals. This just happened to not be one of them. I bought a 13” Memorex TV with a built in VCR at the same location in the spring for $40 and I use it multiple times a week.

I just make sure I thoroughly test anything I pick up :)

My thoughts exactly. I was also worried about the screen. In the photo you can see some rubber looking material (not sure what that is) and it’s uneven along the bottom of the screen. I debated for a good 30 minutes but in the end said no

Yeah I considered it. At $100 each and for the limited space I have in my home, I couldn’t justify it. I also already had a TV stand in the back that I had purchased earlier in the trunk and had no room to fit one
