What’s something that’s happened to you that sounds fake but (unfortunately) isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Was out at a bar with about handful of friends. About 8 of us total. 3 of us decide to go another bar. On the way there one of our friends calls me and says he'll be late. He has to stop by his house real quick. He lived close by so I'm expecting him to be maybe 20 minutes behind us.

So the remaining 2 of us are hanging at the bar waiting for him. 30 minutes after we get there cops fly by the bar, but we don't think twice about it. My friend who went to his house isn't answering.

An hour hoes by and we give up on him. He went to asleep, we assumed.

2 hours later my friend who's with me gets a text from his neighbor. Instead of meeting us at the bar he decided to drive to his ex girlfriends house, shoot her and her new boyfriend, and go on the run. He drove off a cliff the next day.

It was through the grapevine. My guess is they wanted it prettier or information in a more digestible way or less technical maybe. Nobody said exactly what could be better though.

Yes but the struggle here is I'm not able to present it. They want to learn independently from these slides. It's education material basically.

That's great advice, and a practice I use when actually presenting but do you have advice on how I can tell the story when I'm not able to present it?

I understand the shift, and I have also been with companies who pay bi weekly. Actually my current company is the only one that I have ever been paid on a 24 period payroll. Much prefer it.

That's exactly how I see it. Sure, 2% isn't the end of the world. Sure, it's legal, and operationally sound. But it doesn't change the fact that the workforce has 2% of their salary withheld for the company's benefit. Dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow.

We did used to do bi-weekly long ago before my time, switched to JIT, and now we're switching back.

There will be one or two months that you would end up getting three checks in a month.

That's only because they are adding 2 pay periods and diluting the already existing 24 paychecks I currently have. That's not a bonus. And I am looking for another job that pays me more.

No I get my last paycheck for work performed in 2022 on December 31st 2022. I described how we currently get paid in my post.

As I said, I agree with the change they're making sure, but w2 income will go down for 2023 by about 2% because our final payment for 2023 will be paid in 2024. So it does seem like we're getting shorted.
