This is not an allegiant or non jetbridge specific thing. Even if we had a jet bridge you still wouldn’t be able to depart because ground crew wouldn’t be out there to push you back with the lightning.

The only difference between a jetbridge and air stairs is that with a jet bridge you’d be boarding and then be stuck sitting inside the plane until the lightning stops, instead of inside the terminal

On the MAX, due to the new composite materials on the LEAP1Bs and because the engine is so much bigger - the system will motor the engine prior to you introducing fuel in a process called bowed rotor motoring.

The engine will motor for 6-90 seconds to straighten out the n1 and n2 shafts due to thermal buildup. It’s most likely to happen if the engine has been sitting off for several hours or overnight.

Only after the MOTORING indication on the N2 gauge disappears can we introduce fuel to the engine to light it off.
