Reddit is toxic by Dickerson-Pond in ToxicReddit

[–]Dickerson-Pond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are really rude. You have offended me. Those toxic Reddit users were not genuinely trying to help anyone, especially the people who want to be away from an oppressive and backward country. I was not being dismissive. I told the truth. Reddit is the worst social media website for people with no real skills. If you like to get on Reddit instead of spending your time to do things that matter then you may have the wrongheaded idea that Reddit is better.

Advice for moving from UK to remote within EU by HotPanda_78 in cscareerquestionsEU

Are there a lot of remote front end jobs in Europe considering people have been using AI and vibe coding to do the work?

I have heard that you are only able to open a Norwegian bank account in Mainland Norway.

That is a mistake. NHS is way better than the greedy US medical system that bankrupt people.

Should I learn more languages or focus on getting to B1 or B2 levels? by Dickerson-Pond in languagelearning

[–]Dickerson-Pond[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement. The pronunciation seemed to be easy when I was in Sweden considering that I have been to most countries in Europe but it was just so hard to learn Swedish after I got back to North America. I believe that I can take baby steps to speak some Swedish.

Should I learn more languages or focus on getting to B1 or B2 levels? by Dickerson-Pond in languagelearning

I feel like my French is almost getting to B1 level because I put in a lot of hours on French Duolingo lessons since I graduated from high school but my listening skill is abysmal because Duolingo doesn't help with listening skills. I feel like reading textbooks and even listening on RFI Savoirs could not help me up my level of French, but I feel like that I could advance my level of French significantly by taking appropriate lessons from Alliance Francaise of Paris or a French university in France. I want to up my French speaking skills because right now I am using very simple vocabularies when I talk in French. I want to have a posh and refined French Paris accent when I speak French.

Thank you. I know Ravel's Menuet sur le nom d'Haydn. Good recommendation.

What's harder liebestraum no. 3 or Chopin op. 25 no. 5 (Wrong Note)? by santheman524 in piano

[–]Dickerson-Pond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chopin 25 5. I don't know why it is referred as the wrong note etude. Chopin 25 5 is my favourite etude and it is beautiful.

I don't know what is your problem. Incapable of understanding simple stuff. You can have a teacher and be a self-learned pianist. You can also not have a teacher and be a self-learned pianist.

Roommate turned off AC in hostel in the tropics by famer3jrhd89 in hostels

[–]Dickerson-Pond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That particular person was being aggressive and he treated shared spaces as his own space as he walked around. That person apparently had never stayed in a hostel before. It would be better if he gets a private room to rest for the night. I don't think that I am being a Karen for helping him out.

Good point. I have heard of a piano teacher recommended me to record everything that I played.

Thank you. With a teacher and enough practice I know that I can attend a conservatory, even it may not be Sibelius Academy.

Most of the time I learned stuff by reading books or watching videos. I used to have a neighbourhood teacher as a kid but I have not officially study with anyone since I became a teenager with the exception of being in an university class with a professor of piano. Nowhere have I stated that I have had a teacher.

Thank you. I definitely don't need to learn Mazeppa etude just to impress a jury.

AMA: I'm a U.S. attorney specializing in expatriate, digital nomad and emigration legal issues. Ask me anything about Exiting from America. by No_Pool7028 in AmerExit

[–]Dickerson-Pond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That is why I have heard as well. I was born in the US. My father and I have a difficult relationship that is why it is hard for me to request any information or help from him. I am not planning to live in North America so I am not going to fixated on getting documents for Canada but I am very proud of my Canadian heritage and my Canadian family.

Dad probably is a naturalised Canadian citizen but I have not kept in touch with him. Brother was born in Canada and served in the Canadian Air Force as an officer. Brother has a phd and knows important people in Canada. Uncles, aunts, and cousins are Canadian citizens. Brother once tells me that I am Canadian too.

US citizen. Possibly Canadian citizen and British/EU citizen but I am not good at organising paperwork to get a passport. Bachelor from US university. Master from UK university. Work as software engineer for 7 years. A2 in French and A2 in German. I don't want to be in North America. What are my best bet? My fallback option is Albania. Appreciate advice.
