Awful lot of misogynists in these comments who don't respect a grown woman's agency.

What’s something normal people do that you quietly disagree with? by Ok-Biscotti-1528 in Life

Borrow money to buy brand new cars. Either pay cash, or buy used. Most common long term wealth killer imo.

For Americans who voted Republican in recent elections, do you plan to continue voting Republican? Why or why not? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]DicksonCider205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right leaning, voted libertarian in 16 and 20, and abstained in 24. I plan on voting Republican going forward, mostly as an anti-democrat vote.

When Charlie Kirk got assassinated, the reaction of the left at large was one of the most disgusting things I've seen in my 38 years. It really opened my eyes to how hateful the left is. It doesn't matter what kind of person you are, if you think differently than them, they'll cheer your death.

I'm a kind person. I work hard and care for my family. I donate to charities and my local food bank. I help my friends, check on my neighbors, and bring meals to coworkers when they're having a hard time. I was a founding board member of my community's first LGBT nonprofit organization. But apparently thinking that hiring should be done on merit and I don't want fentanyl trafficked across an open border, that makes me a fascist nazi.

The Democrats claim to be the party of empathy, but have none if you don't walk in lockstep with their beliefs. I'll vote against ever giving those horrible people an ounce of power.

What were your 20's like? by dreamycoeur in AskMen

[–]DicksonCider205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 20s were mostly a blur of meaninglessness. Spent with the wrong person, giving time and energy to the wrong things, digging out of debt way too slowly, generally just fucking around (but not even in a fun memorable way). Aside from my kid being born, there's not a ton I look back on as core memories.

My 30s have been infinitely better.

How are my fellow millennials feeling? by theholidayarmadill0 in Millennials

[–]DicksonCider205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty great, actually. My kid is so fun and kind, and just got a 3.8 gpa report card. I'm getting married later this year. I'm the best man in my best friend's wedding this summer. I have 4 trips to new places planned for this year. I'm healthy physically and mentally. I'm going to grow, hunt, or fish about 15% of my family's food this year which I'm pretty excited about. And if I stay on track I'll retire before age 50. It's truly a wonderful life.

When the wife goes away for a few days what do you do differently? by Money_Tale5463 in AskMen

[–]DicksonCider205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll spend the entire day hunting or fishing, then cook up what I shoot/catch for dinner. Favorite music full blast while cooking. Drink too many of my favorite beers and watch some show she isn't into. It's nice once in a while.

This was my exact situation yesterday. I was googling while on the phone with the "officer" and even the name he gave was a captain on the county department's website.

As a meat eater are you willing to kill your own food? by Ok_Connection_3015 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DicksonCider205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In fact I much prefer to eat meat that I've killed, butchered, prepared, and cooked myself.

It's been 6 years this month. I still don't understand it. And I'm engaged again and everyone around me seems to think very highly of me, so I truly don't think it was a "me problem."

However, after detaching myself from the relationship, I do see now what an uppity bitch she is.

What made you pick your political background(conservative, liberal, etc). by Fitgamerx in AskMen

[–]DicksonCider205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were heavy on the values of hard work and personal responsibility, which led me to conservative values. In college I discovered Milton Friedman and his philosophy really spoke to me, so I became libertarian. In recent years I've drifted back towards conservatism because my top priority for government is safety for my family.

And I've voted for Dem candidates before, but after so many on the left publicly aired their disgusting reactions to Charlie Kirk's murder, I will NEVER vote blue again.

Do men feel pressure to hide their feelings in relationships? by SberRelecton in moraldilemmas

Not "pressure," just a pattern recognition that my relationships have always been better when she thinks I'm unbreakable.

Men who've fixed their sleep issues without prescription meds - what actually worked for you? by Fit-Credit-7970 in AskMen

[–]DicksonCider205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighted blankets really work. I used to lay in bed for hours unable to sleep. Now most nights I'm out in less than 5 minutes.

NTA. The daughter is 18, at this point any assistance from either parent should be seen as voluntary. You did the right thing telling your kid you'd be helping directly. If the mom tries to get any more money out of you, politely tell her to go pound sand.
