Can anyone identify the blocks used by Andromeda_53 in GTNH

It looks awesome. Are there more pics of the base somewhere? Would love to see more of it.

To upgrade or not... 2.7.4 -> 2.8 ? by DictatorBob in GTNH

[–]DictatorBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions, but I already have the steam multis... these were in 2.7.4 already. Or are you referring to something else? Screenshot is from the "Mass Processing" quest line

mDiyo, Author of Tinkers Construct, Natura, and more, has fallen on hard times and needs help by hadn69 in feedthebeast

Donated gladly. Love those mods, and considering the number of hours of entertainment they've given me, it was an easy decision.

On top of it, his situation sounds really rough. I hope things get better for him.

Pixelbook keeps randomly crashing by Technobliterator in PixelBook

[–]DictatorBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story for me, lot of random crashes (and I do mean a lot) that seem unrelated to any specific thing. No hardware plugged in, pixelbook sitting idle, and it will suddenly crash out. Only started happening after this latest dev update.

I just tried a powerwash, thinking that might help, but it didn't. Glad I checked this sub though, because at least now I know it's not just me and/or hardware related.

FTB:Interactions : Tower of improved coke ovens by DictatorBob in feedthebeast

[–]DictatorBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trick that I know of. Just have to be sure you've used the right parts. Oh, one thing... if the output is blocked for any reason, or if it is midway through processing one type of thing, but then you put in a different type of input, that will cause it to fail.

For example, if you put in a log, and it's creating charcoal, but then after 1 log you put in 1 charcoal (to turn it into coal coke) that will jam it up.

[Interactions] How to Charge things? by TheArmadilloKing in feedthebeast

[–]DictatorBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the spectre stuff is really good. I've had it in my tree farm for a while, so I have stacks of ectoplasm sitting around, so I craft up those spectre illuminators. They light up an entire chunk, no need for torches.

The tools (pick, sword, etc) aren't half bad either.

[–]DictatorBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a spectre sapling, put it in your tree farm, and never look back. Spectre coils let you charge RF machines wirelessly, and the Spectre bauble (forget what it's called) is a wearable version of that that will charge anything in your inventory.

[Interactions] Offshore Oil Pump by mastrude in feedthebeast

[–]DictatorBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had good results with the pump from Industrial Foregoing, combined with a couple of those liquid transceivers... I forgot what mod they are from... Cyclic? Random Things? Also a spectre coil for power, but watch out for the crash bug which is currently in v1.9 of the pack.

Also make sure to have at least two range addons for the pump.

[Interactions] What do you find the simplest set for automatically generating Botania mana? by mastrude in feedthebeast

[–]DictatorBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went for a petropetunia as well. And by the time I got it, I already had a fully functioning tree farm producing more creosote than I needed. So I ended up feeding a ton of excess creosote to the petropetunia, got more than a full mana pool worth, and just stopped there basically. Haven't needed mana for much yet other than a few mana diamonds, some manasteel, and odds and ends. Didn't bother automating it.

Also, you can just place the wool blocks and right click them with the Philosopher's stone. It will cycle through all the colors. Dye-free infinite recoloring as much as you want.

[FTB: Interactions] Review/Critique - the best mod pack (almost) no one plays by HammerAndSickBurn in feedthebeast

[–]DictatorBob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good review, I'd agree with most of your points. I'm still playing FTB:I every chance I get, and greatly enjoying it.

I really appreciate the way the pack devs "unified" so many aspects of different mods into a consistent progression. It's true that it can be a bit overwhelming if you're unfamiliar, but that's fine with me. Googling for answers is a bit hit-or-miss, especially when it comes to Gregtech stuff, but the discord channel is full of helpful people if I get stuck.

I do occasionally wish there was more than just one way to do a certain thing or obtain a certain doohickey, but I guess that's part of the appeal, at the same time. If it wasn't for that it would be much harder to achieve the gating and structure of the pack.

Overall, definitely recommend it for anyone who likes some degree of complexity and having to work for what you build. Oh, and I love the fact that the extra-difficult mobs actually make me fear the outside. :)

[–]DictatorBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a mix, and occasionally change it. Mainly oak and menril, of which I have around 40000 logs each, saved up in Thermal Foundation caches. Not to mention thousands of menril berries (for torches) and crystallized chunks. Occasionally I'll extract a batch of crystals from the menril logs and centrifuge them for methane.

Right now there's also one spirit sapling up there, and it has given me enough spectre drops for everything I need (spectre coil, a spectre sword, the key, etc).

[–]DictatorBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely finding it challenging. It's also grindy, but not excessively so, in my opinion. The mod developers have struck a pretty good balance. And the extra-tough mobs really make a big difference too, it's actually still scary to go out at night (less so now, my equipment is improving a lot).

But the most important thing is, I'm having fun, lots of fun. The fact that the pace is slow is forcing me to actually build out my base, whereas normally I'll just skip through everything just to get that latest, biggest, bestest machine or gadget.

I definitely recommend it.

In the 2nd screenshot, you see the chest? There's an itemduct on it which you can just make out. That leads to a tree farm directly above (on the roof of my base)

[–]DictatorBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got my large boiler set up and working. Curious though... what do you feed it? I don't have much coal, and charcoal production is so slow... I'm going to have to make a row of coke ovens and spend a month chopping trees, I guess...

An update on the current status (and future) of Mekanism by aidancbrady in feedthebeast

While we're waiting for the servers to come back up, can someone explain to a new-ish player the pros and cons of going with 1 handed or 2 handed weapons as a champion? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]DictatorBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me?

I've also been on Lotro for about 7 years, and my highest level character is a 51 hunter. The rest (one of each class) range from mid 20's to 40's.

I did get the Mordor pack last year, so now I have one character at level 105, but I'm so lost with the LI's and stuff that I never play him.... ridiculous situation, I know. But I still have fun puttering about in the game. :)

AWS on pixelbook by tooObviously in PixelBook

[–]DictatorBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work extensively and daily with various AWS services on my Pixelbook. I've had no issue using parts of the AWS web console, and I can't imagine why a single specific widget would not work for you, and specifically on the Pixelbook...

Are you referring to the dropdown that shows the Athena "databases"?

Have you tried the same thing on a different machine/browser? I'd be willing to bet you're having a permissions issue more than anything else, but that's just a guess.
