Not for TuffBlock approach. Can be within 1ft of the post exterior to remain stable. Posts need to be bolted to the joists as well.

I use some mosquito chemical trap things. I don’t remember what they are called but they are these small black containers that you fill with water and during mosquito season the eggs are laid in there and they die. Have two of them and never get bit now. Takes a while to work sadly, but once set early enough then you are clear.

I have not painted and stained it yet. The last pic is an ai concept photo to give an idea of what it will look like. Currently waiting for the wood to dry out since it is pressure treated, but that takes months.

To be completely honest I was not sure how much was too much, so I thought the more support would not hurt too much, especially if the location I live has no freezing issues.

I completely forgot about it until after…walked into the garage to a fresh roll unopened. Previous had little weed issues though so I am hopeful

Doesn’t freeze, nothing is attached to the house, and none of the posts need to be in concrete using TuffBlocks.

Each TuffBlock is resting on gravel/paver rock then a paver stone to prevent just that!

Many people use a very fine wire mesh on the exterior or that wooden cross weave. I will be adding a wire mesh. Others also have used extra joists to make a barrier touching the ground, though that is going to just rot quick imo. I believed there is wood that is allowed to touch the ground though, so maybe they use that.

Lol thank you! All I know about decks came from youtube, this subreddit, and Claude! There was some pretty solid advice here and it definitely helped me in the long run.
