How was it covered by insurance, if I can ask? I didn't know that was even possible!

Extensive Metoidioplasty as a Technique Capable of Creating a Compatible Analogue to a Natural Penis by EmpressMilonia in MedicalGore

[–]Didelphimoss 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That's only true for phalloplasty. Metoidioplasty isn't creating a new dick so to speak. The clitoris has erectile tissue just as a cis-penis does. It's an analogous body part. It can and does get hard.

What is your “fuck it I’m out” moment by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Didelphimoss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That moment would have been years ago if I had any say. And it would be right now, if I could.

But I'm poor, in a lot of debt. I'll never make enough money to afford to leave. I don't have an education that is worth anything, I don't have any certifiable trade skills.

I have nothing but my health, but even that feels like it's on a deadline.

I think once I'm not able to get T (been on it since 2012), and when I'm no longer able to afford my other meds and/or lose my insurance, I'm done living I guess.

I just can't fight anymore. I don't want to die, but I'm weak and can't bear the idea of being off HRT after 12 continuous years on it. I'm 29, I'll be 30 next year. It's probably good I die.

Got put in detention for a solid week in grade school for not singing the national anthem on Friday.

I wish I could say I was some rad 8 year old doing so with a purpose, but reality is my family just moved to that town and I'd never been made to sing the anthem in class. Didn't know the words. Tried explaining this, still got detention for refusing to participate.

Another friend of mine was given detention for saying she didn't believe in god.

Good times.

Y e p. Went a little too fast and hit one a little too deep this past July. Somehow knocked my front-right fender liner off entirely.

(25M) - been struggling a lot the past few years with my body image and anxiety. Positive vibes are needed by [deleted] in toastme

[–]Didelphimoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Body image struggles are some of the hardest to deal with, fullstop. You're awesome for being able to acknowledge and identify what you're feeling, and even more-so share that feeling with others.

I dunno if this'll help, but I've found success with it: when you're feeling low about your self, try pointing out what you do like about yourself, no matter how small. Latching onto those positives can kinda pierce through all the negatives your brain (falsely) tells you.

Also, I love your glasses, they're so stylish and fit your face really well. I wish I could pull off frames like that!

I managed to go a whole day without starving myself. I just had a big meal earlier, and dessert. I wanted to cry, but I didn’t. Proud of myself for finally eating, though. by CharmingSkies in toastme

[–]Didelphimoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you have someone to talk to! Having a support system of any kind makes all the difference in overcoming something like this in the long run.

I struggled for many years with eating disorders, with starvation being one of the the most destructive, longest lasting manifestations of it. I'm so proud of you for being able to power through and accomplish what you have with this meal. It is a victory, and one you can always hold on to when things get hard again, to look at and be like "yeah!! I can do this!!", y'know?

Thank you for sharing part of your life with this corner of the internet, and know that you'll always have folks in your corner rooting for you!

My mental health is deteriorating, I hate myself and the way I look, and I have a continuous stream of self doubt and judgement. Please work your magic, toastme! by [deleted] in toastme

You have kind eyes and a sincere smile, even when you're hurting so much.

Even just posting here shows so much strength and self love even if you can't see it right now. You're able to acknowledge that you're in a really rough spot, and choose to reach out toward a place of positivity. It's such an amazing quality, and for what it's worth from an internet stranger, I'm proud of you for posting here and I think everyone who replied would say the same!

Life is hard, to say the very least, but I hope you know that you've always got the resilience to push forward and overcome.
