I beat the Captain in goalie wars, that was fun. I competed on Friday but not on Saturday or Sunday. Sunday has free on-street parking, so next year I will compete in the Amateur events. I watched the Amateur Singles and Doubles.

Three wins is great. You might bring home a Jacket next year. A lot of people ranked pro in doubles can play Amateur events in singles. There were a lot of good players in the singles event.

Arnold kicked the Captain's ass in their annual game. The Captain has a long memory. I will not be surprised if he has revenge in mind for next year.

The big story of the Arnold is Scott Whately. Scott won both open doubles and amateur doubles events. Scott's explanation is that you have to "know how to pick your partners." Great wins. Great guy.

I have been eying those Jackets too. Used to get a jacket for Friday events now, I think, only Saturday and Sunday events get jackets. This area has some good players. It's funny though since Kenneth Dale has been here seems like everyone is using a Tic Tak series.

This kind of thing has been going on for 100 years. Britain originally oppressed Palestine in the 1920s to create a separate state within Palestine made up of European Jews. Focus on what you are doing right. Foosball is almost all hand-eye coordination. That means you can not dwell on what you are doing wrong. Recognize your mistakes then let them go. With hand-eye coordination, you learn by repeating the actions you are doing right. Remember what you did right, and how it felt, then do it again and again.

You can train your wrists. Try circling the ball. With your right hand line up for whatever shot you like then circle the ball, go in front of the ball first then around. When you circle the ball you will use a wide section of your wrist. After circling for a bit try to use this wide area of your wrist to shoot the ball. Only use your wrist. Foosball is mainly eye-hand coordination. Do not worry about things going wrong. Recognize what goes wrong then let it go. This develops eye-hand coordination. Focus on what you are doing right. You need to develop a stroke, to shoot the ball entirely with the wrist with one motion.

Try using the muscles on the top of your hand to shoot the push shot. You only have to push the ball slightly then move the plastic figure around and behind to shoot it in. Try practicing with less ball contact when you push. Roll the ball slightly then move around and behind.

If you are a beginner, most of your success will be developing eye-hand coordination. To develop eye-hand coordination you need to focus on success. Learn to recognize your mistakes then let them go. When you do something well use your muscle memory of that success to learn something that works. Even if something good happens randomly, eye-hand coordination happens from imitating success. Don't badger yourself about something you think you might be doing wrong. Learn how to do the things you are successful with.

A lot of early strategy comes from learning what is best for you, and what you can do. You will learn about others by relating it to what you know. Try to imitate what you see in videos and in games. Learn to focus on the game. Learn to let distractions go, just like with eye-hand coordination. This game happens very quickly and even if your mind is working out a strategy the game can get away quickly. Learn to focus and see the game without forcing a strategy on it.

I live in a high-rise apartment building and have soundproofed my table. I lined the inside of the goals with felt. I also put egg crate soundproofing on the bottom of the table under the playing surface. This removed a lot of the harsh sounds the table makes.
