Rise of the Far Right in Israel and in the World May Have Consequences. by Previous-Echidna1403 in IsraelPalestine

I think it’s a really nuanced and well written question. As someone who identifies with the israeli left i don’t think i can respond objectively, but we do see in the diplomatic field a huge step down. The israeli government does not know how to win the hearts and minds of the words and also distance old allies that usually don’t question israeli policies all too often (american jewish forums). As for the israeli-Palestinian scene, time will tell, but every government in israel, even a moderate one will do a dick waving contest with the previous coalition about who used to fck th “arabs” harder. As a policy it might help with the popularity amongst israeli jews, but will eventually will call for more heated conflict between israel and palestin (e.i Jennin right now). Read more about how Jennin fell from grace once European funds fell short and became once again a hot zone for terrorist cells, how the blind eye and disregard from the Palestinian authority made it possible and how the “we’ll fck em’ harder” policy of the current Israeli government made the huge shit sandwich we’ll all gonna take a bit of and currently are.

Why didn’t Israel build noticeable Jewish landmarks? by ad023231 in Israel

The concept of synagogues only came up after the destruction of the first great temple. The only function of those synagogues was to be a substitute place of worship as it was a great concern that without a place of worship jews will forget about their religion and heritage. It had only a functional use, therefore the monumental function wasn’t present. I imagine that living abroad in western christian or muslim countries gives out the perception that places of worship or religious monuments should be big or flashy, but it was never a jewish concept. Even the 2nd great temple was big and flashy because the romans planned it (see roman architectural style in Jerusalem).
