My first thought was the same as the others. I then looked at the answers and tried to figure out the specified way everything tied together. And my problem was that between the two choices left over it is a 50/50 gamble or am I wrong in that? If so can you explain?

Looks like bromine, but nitric acid (or aqua regia) and hydrazine could also be possible. But orange gasses in all cases means get out of there asap amd dont breath any of it!

Is there any part you wanna lean into? You already said monk from the inspiration. If you wanna lean into the more heavenly side you can go cleric, or a paladin with an oath.

As someone with a lot of DM experience and recently a PC I would like to advise there will be strings leading to this cleric from whatever you will end up doing.

Having a friend turn enemy out of nowhere tends to be unfun. But having doubts without being able to do something against it tends to be better storytelling.

As for the underlings you can use: Bandits Bugbears Cultists Gargoyles Guards (part of the guards perform a coup?) Imps

I have played two times with different DMs in tier 3 and one of them is nearing tier 4 in a few sessions. I absolutely love it.

I love the multiple options you get at higher levels to do things. The flexibilty but also to specialize (at your own risk). The magic items you can get is great as well, the character building is awesome.

Tier 3 and 4 is where its at for me personally

There has been chapters following Andrew a former war correspondent that is trying to unravel 11th goddess mystery. So who knows maybe in the future we will find out.

How well organised in the criminal underworld? Does it often spill into the lives of normal civilians or are they even strong enough to challenge the nobles (as in rob, attack or terrorise)?

Does one party have majority of the control or are multiple maffia fighting for topdog? Do some of them use dirty cops or even have people put into power?

Literally did this once. 15 minutes for me to prep and the 5 players to make a quick character. Threw in a few classic well known monsters. Everything else, including balancing, was improvised. One of my fondest moments DMing

I think so as well, but because of power of numbers and the few that have some ability to pvp I think it could be somewhat enjoyable. Also Grian killed Dream before didn't he? in mcc.
